I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just… use a photo of Amsterdam?

Custom illustrations simply have that premium look, you know? (I joke, but also not. I think that this is actually a vestigial taste of the before-ai-times, and that there's a big mismatch in how fast this is evolving out of existence for different groups of people.)

Deleted my original reply because it was really mean if this ends up not being AI generated. I see what you’re saying, and hadn’t considered that perspective before. Having images like this hand made did used to signal investment.

The only thing I can tell you for sure, is that that's not actually Amsterdam (I live there) but it's Amsterdam-alike. If it's AI or not, that's gonna be hard to tell unless you ask them or you see people with 6 fingers.

It's very cool of you to reconsider your position on this, I like that a lot! Honestly, my orginal intention wasn't even as compassionate as yours. I was mostly agreeing with you, as I think it's pretty safe to assume that it's AI generated and that it would be better to then use "the real thing."

I'm not against using AI-generated illustrations and whatnot, but not everywhere. In this specific case I would have enjoyed if someone actually put some effort into finding a nice photo like you showed, or paid an artist to create something bespoke. There are heaps of talented folks on Fiverr.

local tennis org that has been hiking fees for court reservations went with this garbage instead of paying for an actual photo, or using one they already owned.

Amsterdam is _beautiful_ and very easy to take a great picture of. Hell, I’ll let them use my own pictures if they want.

Totally agree. Funny to see the Westertoren (the church tower) and De Gooyer (the windmill) in one picture though. Both are Amsterdam landmarks.
