elitist james talarico has offended the 99.9% by saying trump is making the white house look like "gaddafi's bucc-ee's". he doesn't understand that the common man considers their brisket, wide variety of spiced nuts, and mostly clean bathrooms to be very classy and sophisticated.

"99.9%..." and "home of delicious cuisine" are real charlie brown had hoes statements. no they wouldn't. no it isn't. that isn't true.

THE FACTORY

this week's episode of @blankcheck.bsky.social about "goodfellas" was rough for someone who mostly knows "get your fucking shinebox" to be followed immediately by "and your sack of nickels", from an outkast song whose title griffin once mispronounced.

"trump accounts" are going to end up full of 1-2 share lots of the most societally and environmentally detrimental companies in the country. cheat code to give young people a small, vested financial interest in destroying the world, brought to you by northrop grumman and monsanto.

“i pay tax before, but still pay tax now?” We spoke with dozens of half-literate morons about the machinations of local governance. Here’s what they’re saying.

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Congrats folks, you did it. As of this morning there have been 741,391 early votes in the state of Georgia, putting us 2,841 votes ahead of the same day in 2022. More people voted in 4 days this year than over 5 days in 2022. #gapol #gapolitics georgiavotes.com

how many cornhusker engineers does it take to build a better viener schlinger?

Der Viener Schlinger, the world’s first handheld hot dog launcher, can now fire a 2.67-ounce Fairbury Tomboy at 90 mph from Tom Osborne Field over the 165-foot-high skyboxes. The machine has come a long way, in part thanks to 170 UNL engineering students. Read more 🔗 buff.ly/RUjRedg

v. funny they're making saban sit next to pat mcafee, the hellbound deserve a terrestrial preview of the eternity they're due

the phrase "millennial death drive" has been rattling around in my head since, on a call that had already gone way too long with my 23-year-old class project partner, i realized that at least 3 times, i'd mentioned the world potentially ceasing to exist within 5-10 years.

I know I’m not saying anything new, BUT what’s so infuriating about this Cornell case and so many situations like it is that there is so often no upside for the woman in reporting the event. It usually ruins her life in one way or another.

Gendered violence is a systemic cultural and societal problem. And when one of these cases boils to the top, you can see that in how many survivors come forward to explain how similar their experiences are, in ways both big and small.

What about her future? What about how hard she worked to be there? What is to become of her life now? What process of justice could possibly right these wrongs? And how much more will she lose in the process of trying to get it? How much more of this are we all supposed to tolerate?

I'm under no illusions about how things are or what the trajectory is. But I'm also excited for the future because that is where I will hang out with the people I care about and do the things I like doing, or haven't done before. Weird but telling that this holds less appeal for much richer people.

underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.

fun facts i did not know about rockwell (who did the rappy parts, but not chorus, of "somebody's watching me"): - his dad is berry gordy, meaning that he's also redfoo's half-brother - jimmy carter, the president, is his second cousin once-removed

fifth spam call of the day offering me a business loan. they're gonna turn me into a potent combo of the joker, michael douglas in "falling down", killdozer, the beekeeper, and the guy in that "falling down"-type movie starring the murray brother who played freddy rumsen on mad men.

People are making fun of AOC for having a slight southern accent while speaking in Memphis but they clearly don’t know the pain of habitually and unconsciously imitating the speaking style of the people around you

when i went off to college in georgia, i vowed to resist acquiring an accent. this was mostly successful, unless i was drunk or very tired, which surfaced a bizarre franken-appalachian mix of the dormant north carolinian + familial north georgian + UGA all-georgia hybrid accents.
