We really lost something by upgrading image generators. Plugging in shit like “my happy family at the beach” gave you horrifying things like this and it was actually great

this skeet made me look up craiyon to see if it was still a thing but they have upgraded their slop too 😔

Same with the dream-logic of early video generators. The overtly-morphing shapes flowing into each other, the bizarre randomness of it all. It was like watching playback of my sleeping brain shows after spicy burrito night.

Also, check out the work of Erin Robinson, Erica Lapadat-Janzen, Jess Tucker. Could name more. Lots of examples of these kinds of aesthetics still being made and intentionally utilized

Sadly I think they fixed this? "The photo hasn't come through. Please attach it, and I'll restore it as faithfully as possible, preserving the original content without altering the scene or asking for an explanation."

You can’t even get image generators now to make images in the style of these old gems because they hyper-realize it all. They completely lost that nightmarish, bulbous kludging together of pieces of flesh and I hate it

you can still have all the horror you want even with regular text prompts if you use 4bit quantized image models (i use a 4bit version of krea 2 turbo for the model and its text encoder to fit on my RTX 3060, and it's exactly like your example if you're not careful with the prompting)
