baby weight

Guys whose whole thing is obsessing relentlessly over the righteousness of patriarchy and aLpHa masculinity are flexing and high-fiving over ... a one-rep deadlift max of 315lbs/143kgs.

I'm a year into to Casey Johnston's couch to barebell, fucking stoked I can RDL 125 for reps, and I feel like weak little child in this thread. Lotta amazing swole peeps here of all gender, though.

eh i'd put it at 'reasonably dedicated hobbyist', so whatever the lifting equivalent is of someone who runs a couple marathons a year, but is never going to come close to breaking any records.

I will say "hell yeah great job man" to any one of my friends who lifts this because they're my friends and deserve every opportunity for me to say "hell yeah," but you don't get to call yourself an Elite Alpha Warrior for doing something that anybody can do with several months of work

yes it's an accomplishment for anyone who decides to start lifting and makes it to this weight but also posting it as an example of your alpha or whatever strength is extreme levels of delusion

I love you and Wyman's responses, both explaining in detail and NAH equally valid bsky.app/profile/patr...

I'm all about gassing people up when they're getting stronger and feeling themselves - participating in your buddies' accomplishments is one of the great joys of strength training - but if you're gonna claim a 315 deadlift makes you a gorilla I'm gonna laugh my ass off, poverty weight racist prick

Cofnas should try to fight 100 Gorillas. Just do it. What's the worst that can happen ? Just go for that Silverback Nate. Do it.

I think because of how their hips work, a gorilla cannot deadlift to proper form so 315 lp. does beat them, technically... so checkmate libs? (an ave gorilla can *throw* over 800 lp. and can probably lift something like 1,900 lp.; an ave chimp can lift over 600 lp.)
