Before LLMs, starting a new project could feel like an impossible task because you had to frontload so much work. With LLMs you can defer all that and it can feel like a huge productivity unlock. Even if you think that the total amount of work is the same, that reversal can get you started

For some people, starting a project is easy, but finishing is hard. Sometimes the LLMs can finish your TODOs after the architecture laid out by hand is there and the basics are implemented by you but you're struggling to do the final stretch

Yeah, that is often me. Finishing started but unfinished tasks, where 80-90% is done and I can delegate the last mile to clanker.

Although sometimes maybe they make it a bit too easy to get started, and over time your projects accrue too much technical debt, and then it's easier to just start another new project. You can see how you could get stuck in that cycle.

Having an app that works that I refine definitely unlocks some stuff for me. Easier to focus on what matters, not fall into premature asbtractions etc. Or just nerd the exciting part and let LLM do the boring stuff. Not losing hours to that one line of configs on limited free time isn't bad either.
