I have really enjoyed the experience of reading story after story about how good and selfless and beloved a recently deceased famous person was

Dolly's life, and this outpouring of love and regard for our being touched by it in some way, is uplifting in itself -- reminds us that IT IS POSSIBLE to be an undimmed positive in this life.

It seems that in order to be mourned and not be spoken of badly after you die, you just need to be a genuinely good person while you are alive. If only more rich and famous people did this…

Across the country, bridges and buildings are being lit up, and flags are flying at half mast in a beautiful display of collective grief and celebration of a beautiful life.

To expand on my feelings a little more: It feels to me like so many of “today’s” wealthy and famous and powerful people are real pieces of shit. I feel inspired by learning about all of Dolly Parton’s *choices* to be different and do different. What an impactful, rewarding life.

“You and all of your friends are very special. There is no limit to what you can do or how far you can go.” My goodness.

This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.

I've been reading these stories and I thought of Musk, and the contrast. Then I read something from Bill Gates and thought, she did a lot more to help people than he did. So much money and so little heart, not specifically Gates but ALL of them

We've decided 9-25 is Dolly's day. We have a month to prepare, and to make this a National if not Global celebration of the best of humanity. Repeat, share, and prepare! Organize a block-party, write a poem, buy some books, sing some music...come together and be good to each other for a day!

I remember after George Michael passed, story after story came out (for years!) about his charity. He seemed genuinely happy to have the money he did, because of all the ways he could help people out with it. I hope he and Dolly inspired one another.
