"We think it’s in Take-Two's self-interest, as a publisher and partner to many developers, to raise the price point for the entire industry." says Bank of America on GTA 6's price. https://bit.ly/3PmsYgf

Counterpoint: You're a bank that stands to gain from the fleecing of consumerd, so maybe fuck your opinion on what is reasonably costed.

Quickly reaching a point where the amount of time a game takes to develop is equal to the amount of time we have to wait for it to reach a reasonable price

Hell of a price for renting permission to play a game. Give us offline installers that can't be disabled and then you can charge that kind of money.

Also give us the whole game. Yes the price of games have fallen dramatically by stagnating despite inflation. But the amount of DLC you have to buy, all cosmetics now being his behind microtransactions, and so on, mean we're getting less.

My thing is, if they want to whine about the inflation-adjusted prices from the 90s, they need to understand we paid that price in the 90s for ownership of one copy of the game, not for a damn license that can end when they say so.

During lockdown someone in the next town burned down a Bank Of America and the community largely replied on social media with the consensus of "hell yeah", apropos of nothing

No it wouldnt, people making shorter cheaper games that cost less to produce and are actually fun would help the industry. Stop making games fucking luxury items. I want shit that can run on a 10yo PC and is actually fucking fun.

Thats awesome. I havent ever checked if it can be done but considering that Ion Fury was made on build it would be cool if it could run on a 96' PC.

The current build of NetHack can run fine on a 35 year old PC! It can technically run on a 40 year old PC but it requires a math coprocessor, which weren't standard in consumer-oriented PCs until the launch of the 80486DX, and it runs glacially slow on a 386

That is a pretty good game, Ive gotten the chance to play it a couple times and had fun when I did. Bomb rush cyberfunk, crow country and the big catch (at least the demo, full game not out) also are all super cool games that are out there.

Might help the suits bank accounts. I know I'm already at my limit with new game prices. $80+ for a new game? Get out of here. Unless its a deluxe or collectors edition a new game just isn't worth that much.

Its been a while since ive been interested in any AAA game. Its all overpriced slop. Why pay $80 for an experience thats as wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle? When i can pay $5-$30 on a game created by a small, passionate team that isnt trying to make a game that does everything.

Its ok. Im not buying it regardless. Gta 5 and by extension gta online is the most profitable single piece of entertainment ever. They know they dont need to do this and theyd still make billions. But thats not enough for these leeches. Infinite growth and profit is the only goal. At all costs.

lol ok, I just won't buy it then? Here's the thing: I can wait them out for a sale when it's $20 if I still care. Hell I have a dozen other games on my wishlist waiting for a deep enough sale for me to consider it a fair trade for my money.

if they weren’t morons they would make it $20 since GTA will make bank off of micro transactions anyways. the biggest net will catch the most whales, and the whales will be more interested in whaling when more other fish are in the net. they are hamstringing their own product with business brain

I'm already on the fence about picking up GTA 6 at launch at this point and this would pretty much kill any chance of me picking it up within its first year of launch. Hell I'd probably just wait for a PC release and a Steam sale in 2030 out of spite.

The video game industry is dead. GTA 6 is the only thing keeping fans around a console at all. Go ahead lol. I’ve been looking to a reason to just get rid of the whole fucking console.

The golden age of video games was in the mid 2000’s Gaming companies found it was more profitable to pack their games with micro transactions and battle royally content to keep children competing with each other and spending money on their shit platform instead of going to the playground.

Peoples don't even realize that with day one DLC and season pass, most of them are already paying more than 80 buck for a game XD

No way that is way too much for a game! It's just delusional to think that'd help anyone much less the video game industry I mean maybe the suits until the game reaches the high seas.

The games industry makes record profits every year. The issue is not the money. The issue is that the people who hoard it. The payout to Bobby Kotick would have funded Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin for 17 years. But he got paid, and they closed.

Why is a bank trying to backseat another company's business? Who's idea was it to write this shit? "Uh yeah USAA thinks Tesla should release a new car" who cares? Stfu

And we all know that no matter how high they jack the selling price up, the one thing they'll never do is reduce the amount post-launch monetization that they've gotten so good at doing.

Banks: "We think it's in publisher's interest to..." Gamers: *jacking-off motions* "You're a bank, not a consultant. Just put the fries in the bag." Publisher: "Hold on. I think John MasterCard might be on to something here..." (Sincerely: I'm 35 and can't buy smut on Steam. Fuck all paypros. )
