What’s really getting me about this and all the ai food I’ve seen, is how comfortable we’ve gotten with false advertisement. The idea of generating AI ads without considering the need to replicate the look of the food advertised should be a huge tell of how comfortable we’ve become with it.

ai food in these posters always looks like nightmare sequences in shows where someone will be eating what they think is delicious food but then they look down and turns out its maggots and other bugs

one of the local places where i am has really hit or miss food but constantly adds new stuff to the menu, and every time i see they've posted an ai-fuckified version of their new menu item i'm like. how do you want me to even be slightly interested in trying it if you're dishonest about

I remember when there was an uproar over TV commercials using Vaseline to make burgers more juicy, or even just using heavy cream in cereal commercials instead of milk. Wild how far standards have fallen. I'm beginning to suspect the slippery slope fallacy isn't actually a fallacy.

That's what I'm saying! People used to meme on how a whooper doesn't look like the advertisements and now we're out here putting fake looking food that doesn't exist on signs

I don't know that we're comfortable with it but the people who would normally have some regulatory role to speak up and say "hey, what the fuck?" have been eliminated sidelined or subverted. Consumers don't have rights, capitalists do, in our bright New heritage foundation World.

Restaurants take note: I ain't eating there If you're so ashamed of your food you won't even snap a photo of it for your sign, I'm just assuming you put as much effort into making it as you did AI generating that sign and it's a disgusting disgrace to cuisine. I ain't alone.

I don't care how often ive been going to a place or how good the food may be, if they use AI for the food imagery instead of how it actually looks or the trickery they used to do, i'm not eating there. How am I supposed to trust the food quality if you don't even show me the *good* side of it??????

Right? That burger would need at least 7 slices of cheese and maybe 6 slices of bacon to look like that. Idk who your supplier is, you’re not selling that burger for 16 bucks. And don’t even get me started on the pico that appears to be made of tiny colorful beads.

I reported multiple ads I thought were a company making knockoffs of a product I liked only to find out they were AI generating b-roll shots of their merch and didn't care that it looked shit and heavily distorted their logo/branding.

You reminded me of that time I saw someone post "The buns in McDonald's Japan's burger photos are all slightly askew" and linked to their website. Sure enough, slightly askew.

I can’t get William Gibson’s Jackpot out of my head. A slow rolling end of the world where 80% of the world dies out not in a violent explosion, but a decades-long slump into misery.

What’s so obnoxious about it is that it shouldn’t be THAT HARD to take a picture of your food. Use a fucking iPhone, maybe even add a filter to make it pop more. Way better and less of a scam than a fake ass image that hardly has a basis in reality.
