I remember voicing negativity at it being a dumb time travel movie instead of following events after the snap and being told "sounds like you didn't want a comic book movie" and it made me want to rip my hair out lol

Is Endgame finally accepted as a shit film? When I first saw it in theaters I felt alone in thinking it sucked ass because I was the only one not clapping or cheering every few minutes.

When I saw Endgame in theatres, my brother and I were the only ones in the theatre. I could tell where the big moments of applause were supposed to be but they don’t land as well in a silent theatre. Didn’t help that my brother fell asleep partway through.

I never saw it because I saw Infinity War and went, "I hate this. This is shit." When I saw it the entire theater was DEAD SILENT for the ending. They were like, "I don't understand, is the movie over?" No enthusiasm, no applause. Dunno how people left that miserable theater to decide "movie good."

If it helps I've been a big hater since forever about explicitly the infinity stones, Thanos and basically all of End Game. It's not exactly shit but it's so meh outside of the original theatrical release. Like no reason to watch unless you're binging ALL of them.

no lmao i'm just a hater. i think generally a lot of positive sentiment around even the older marvel movies is lower as people hate the new ones and realise the issues were always there but people still mostly really like endgame just not me

that whole arc was like the statistical average movie experience but it only worked bc they were actually about something. MCU has been a lost babe in the woods since wandavision ended so it can't even hit that level of mediocre anymore

In the rare case of winning as a hater of something mainstream I managed to convince multiple family members and coworkers it was really bad during the theatrical run. I did have to act like thor ragnarok was a masterpiece to do it but I think it was a worthwhile trade ngl.

Underrated part is the way they wrapped everything up by reversing the snap 5 years later, undermining the worldbuilding of every subsequent project by being like "yeah the world lived with a Leftovers x 25 traumatic event for five years. It was hard I guess. Then everyone just kinda got over it."

I know it's whole thing was "a decade and a couple dozen movies" of setup but it's just so overwhelmingly dense. Can't really feel a lot when massive characters are getting a couple minutes a piece in a three hour movie.

I'm long past the days of keeping up but the obvious pattern has seemed like the further they get from being crossover or setup the more they feel like actual movies. Like GotG3 and Thunderbolts have minimal connection and you can see way more heart than say, Ant-Man 3 existing purely for setup.

as someone pretty uninvested in the whole saga, when compared to rise of skywalker at least this one had some fun popcorn moments (this is not at all intended to be a defense of endgame lol)

I thought I was mostly alone in this hatred, but endgame is legit the most boringly awful movie I've ever seen. Plenty of low budget films are 'worse' in various measurable ways, but Endgame was offensive in how anti-art it came off. Absolute dogshit, I feel dumb for ever seeing an MCU film atp
