you can’t replicate it now but games having end screens that loop or freeze til you physically walk to the console and take out the cartridge is soooooooo good

Funny version of this is Super Sprint on NES on one of those rogue Tengen carts. Once you finish the last race it dumps you into a new race but with buffer overflow glitches that get worse the longer you play

when me and my friends recently finished final fantasy crystal chronicles for the first time and we all saw the end screen actually just stop and end at the closed book it made us legitimately really emotional. there's something tangible to the finality of basically hanging the console on the end

Sure you can. Video game that reboots your computer into a micro installation of Linux that shows the end credits and the only way to exit is to reboot back into your OS

streaming services autoplaying shit during credits is such a crime you gotta sit in the moment when something finishes! a game or a movie or an album or whatever i do think its good if you gotta get up, turn the light on, take out the disc

I will say, I do like when games force quit or intentionally crash as soon as the credits end. It's a good bit. It feels good. Works for the medium.

It's like when a vinyl record is recorded with the locked groove in mind and you have to physically take the needle off the disc. I remember the remake of Twin Fantasy did this and it was such a good way to end it

i remember playing mario world as a kid on the wii virtual console, and after beating the game I got stuck because the end screen didnt send you back to the title. I didnt realize I needed to hit reset
