Just a casual day of receiving amateur radio packets into JavaScript and parsing the data in them.

Very cool! Now, may I interest you in some DMRplus QSOs? ;)

Interested, of course. But I've not done any DMR as all I have are Yaesu radios. It's all C4FM for me. We could probably use EchoLink or IRLP—I know there are repeaters near me for that. Or maybe APRS? If you have a license that lets you do HF stuff we could try actual SSB or maybe JS8Call.

Haven't tried EchoLink yet, but it's on my to-do - or to-try - list. Regarding HF, my license only includes 10m but I don't have any 10m gear yet. As for DMR, if you want to play around with that without having to buy anything, maybe this could be a good first step: github.com/rohithzmoi/D...

I've got EchoLink up and running. If you have an EchoLink repeater near you I can connect to it. Then, you just talk to the repeater like you normally would and I would be talking into my phone or computer.

Not a repeater, but there is a simplex link close by, DB0HML-L (node 682273). Do you happen to know if I need to use a burst tone with those, too?

Looks like a simplex repeater. Don't see any tones on the entry at Repeaterbook. Should be good to go. I'd try hitting the repeater and see if it retransmits what you send.

Well, currently listening to the link so if you got a moment to spare feel free to call DN9DC and let's see if can have a quick QSO.

That was fun!

Certainly was! Looking forward to the next round. :)

If you sign up with QRZ.com, you can log our contact there.

Also, the EchoLink repeater in my area is WC8OH-R (868982).

How about this: Next time we want to talk inconveniently, you go QRV on that repeater's frequency and I'll try to connect from DB0HML-L. Curious what the audio quality is like with FM on both ends.
