Interested, of course. But I've not done any DMR as all I have are Yaesu radios. It's all C4FM for me. We could probably use EchoLink or IRLP—I know there are repeaters near me for that. Or maybe APRS? If you have a license that lets you do HF stuff we could try actual SSB or maybe JS8Call.

Haven't tried EchoLink yet, but it's on my to-do - or to-try - list. Regarding HF, my license only includes 10m but I don't have any 10m gear yet. As for DMR, if you want to play around with that without having to buy anything, maybe this could be a good first step: github.com/rohithzmoi/D...

I do have the gear for 10m but 10m heavily depends on band conditions and is kind of hit or miss. You just need to upgrade your license and then buy an awesome radio! I paid $1200 for my main radio but it does everything from 70cm to 160m and even includes an antenna tuner. Buy once, cry once.

Regarding Droidstar, it looks like I could use the Apple version, although that might be a bit of a hassle at the moment. I'll have to look into that when I get some time.

I forgot to ask: A bit of a hassle how? I mean, all you need to do is get a DMR ID, install the app, and say hello to 2632668. :)

I see, I "just" need to upgrade my license. Well, that does require studying for another license exam, so it might be a while until I have time for that. :) Besides, my AT-D878 is awesome. As long as I stay on 2m/70cm and FM/DMR. ;)

Not a repeater, but there is a simplex link close by, DB0HML-L (node 682273). Do you happen to know if I need to use a burst tone with those, too?

Looks like a simplex repeater. Don't see any tones on the entry at Repeaterbook. Should be good to go. I'd try hitting the repeater and see if it retransmits what you send.
