Over the past two weeks our shelter in Phoenix has received released detainees from Austria, Holland and Italy. Yesterday a 79 year old Canadian woman was deported after being detained for a month. She overstayed her visa to complete the sale of her home. It is a clusterf*ck!

besides everything else, ice/cbp is a bunch of common thieves. there are reports of phones stolen and sold. there's footage of an arrest in minneapolis in the parking lot of a grocery store, where they loaded the groceries that person had just bought into their own car.

The receipt means that ICE took this money from them at the time of their detention. They are also given a property log. Their property is supposed to be kept secured and given to them when they are released. They were told they could file a complaint about the missing cash if they wanted to.
