That reminds me of a wooden box my grandma had. When you would slide the top open, a dragon swung out and pecked your hand. With a pin at the end of its nose for added fun. Ah, the good old days.

My grandparents had a silly novelty doorknob that replicated a human hand, but this… this is something else entirely. 😱 I hope you will share with us how it works.

Turns out, our visit to Italy 2 decades ago consisted of many such photographs. This was a cultural 'thing' of which we were not aware beforehand but have now been made aware to the extent that PTSD is considered likely.

These are a very common sight here in Portugal as well as in other EU countries I have visited. I love them so much! The symbol appears in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, so they have many names. Here they are usually called the Hand of Fatima, a talisman of protection. This one is exquisite!

Yeah? I mean people dont use doorknocks much anymore due to electric doorbells being just better, but the doors that still have them have stuff like this.

I feel like this would be significantly less creepy if the door itself didn’t have visible rivets. That makes the whole situation so much more unsettling. Also, how does the door knob actually work? Like is it just a handle, or does something turn?
