A worrisome number of people seem to believe that posting deranged “I like animals better than people” comments on Facebook posts about shelter dogs is all they need to do to be Good and Virtuous - it’s basically Furbaby Indulgences.

This "virtue eater" role doesn't even require that a person do anything useful for the welfare of dogs in general or even their own personal pet — so long as your feelings are correct, you can be a hero of sentimentality.

I work in animal care, I care for 100's of animals...mostly dogs and cats as you might imagine. This entire discourse has given me truly biblical insanity. Also you're completely correct.
