Disappointed to see that the background issues with location/notifications/task-manager will remain, but I get it. It's definitely a show-stopper for me on the new arch until those are fixed. I really think that issue makes enabling it by default in Expo 53 a tough sell.

we will make native changes - we frequently introduce native changes throughout an sdk cycle but we do so in a way that is backwards compatible. these apis are not used in expo go

we've also been investing not just in making them work but also moving to more modern apis. background tasks will be much better than ever very shortly.

Congratulations to everyone involved. Absolutely insane release 🔥 I'm particularly excited about DOM components. My hope is I'd be able to slash in half the amount of code I currently have to maintain.
