unbelievably stoked to be getting this out - it's been a long time coming & is the culmination of over two years of work
still much to do, but this is a huge step towards opening up the network & turning it into a resilient piece of public infrastructure
But bluesky imposes rate limits on outside PDSes. Does that mean they still control the index? Will there be alternate indexes with fewer (or more) restrictions?
someone can easily fork that
the entire dataset is freely available & is actively mirrored by several devs
may require some coordination but totally doable
No, the plc documents are self-certifying using keys stored in PDSes. The issue is just that the network has to rely on a central repository. So if the network coordinated on a replacement using a backup, it would be okay. Still not ideal, but not unrecoverable.
