No they're not. They know exactly what they're voting for: The continued dismantling of our public health system. That's what they want. You know this. Why do we have to do this playacting goldfish brain shit every time.

By voting to confirm RFK Jr., the Senate “is wagering the future of our public health system on a prayer that a conspiracy theorist can build back up the agencies that he and his supporters have spent years breaking down,” Nicholas Florko writes.

They're voting to not get primaried. They're voting to ensure that the credible death threats against themselves and their families don't get carried out. None of this voting has anything to do with our institutions or the people of this country

"By pulling the trigger a third time, the killer is taking a huge gamble - that, unlike the previous two bullets, this third one will be a blank or a dud. Let's hope he's right..."

The plan..Fire the cancer researcher and hire Dave from maintenance at the Ft. Worth Target store. Multiply that by thousands of employees across all Federal depts. Oh, BTW, that’s after they take the Trump oath.

The "huge gamble" is that they won't be able to privatize the health crisis fast enough with an absolute nutcase as head of HHS. They want us sick, poor, stupid, and scared so they can privatize our entire lives and slap brand labels on our right to live.

100%. This is a hopelessly naive take. Republican senators are just tying to save their political asses from the wrath of Trump and the money of Musk. They know that Trump’s agenda is just to break things and dominate for corrupt purposes. They are spineless.

My take on this is his supporters want this, they voted for him to do exactly this and they are getting what they voted for. As frustrating as it is, we have to let things play out.

They do know what they are doing... The absolute easiest thing possible. Congress is now teeming with individuals that want the high profile, but not the responsibility, of the office. And they are willing to hand over their power to ensure they keep what they want. Reality TV governance.

As with Covid, the whole key is not to trigger panic in the populace.* That's most important. That's what the media tells itself. They'd rather people die calmly and respectfully. *The myth of mass panic is something media has promoted for years.

Agreed. They are not making some "gamble." They are doing the politically expedient thing that protects the politician voting for him. That's the best case. The worst case is that they want death and destruction. My personal opinion is that the R party is largely a death cult.

I swear to God, when are MSM gonna get that there is no irony in these people. Visigoths, Vandals, future kings of their own little technologically dependent fiefdoms of people grow their fucking food..they don't care if we live bc women will be forced to breed more labor. Electrified 500 BC

You know, I’m really good at giving people the benefit of the doubt. I will go out of my way to do it. The kindest thing I can say about anyone who voted to confirm Kennedy today is that they’re cowards who have betrayed the public trust for fear of backlash.

I might argue it is less than that. The majority of R. Congress people probably don't care one way or the other. Their only want is to make Trump happy.

They want to destroy the government. They made this clear the last time. The only thing that stopped them was that there were too many people who stood in the way to prevent it. They learned their lesson, and now they have succeeded: they are destroying the government.

Yep. That may not go like they think. We've all gotten cynical, but when you get too many Americans pissed off, it tends to go badly for the people who pissed us off. In the wake of Pearl Harbor, Yamamoto called us a sleeping giant. That can still be valid.

True enough. When someone bloodies our collective nose, we have a long history of reacting swiftly, violently, and completely out of proportion to whatever was done to us.

Revolutions against a native government rather than an occupying one are never quick or clean. An occupier can be made to pick up stakes and go home when things get bad enough, but a native government will feel as though its back is against the wall and fight back a lot longer.

What fears me most is he says he wants get rid of chronic disease. How does he plan to do that, with cures or just kill those of us with chronic disease? Type 1 diabetes since 1963 here. I've survived healthy for 61 years, only to fear my demise now.

Yup! Back to the Dark Ages when medicine was based on superstition, religion, leaches, bloodletting, herbal remedies, chanting and holes were drilled into skulls to release evil spirits. America is truly being made great again. Buyers remorse yet?
