I think a good test is the ability to explain something simply if someone says (after you finish speaking) "how intelligent you are!" - you're not a good communicator and you might not even understand it you want people to say "how simple that is! what's the big deal? even I can understand it."

I disagree with the notion that Fable speaks the way it does because that's how smart people speak. the smartest people I know are highly capable of communicating complex ideas in easy-to-understand ways.

Yep. When ever I have to hire someone with an experience outside of my own, I get them to explain their field to me. If I don’t understand it It is probably not going to work

As a lifelong teacher, I agree. However, there’s a fine line between making things easy to digest and losing accuracy in the process. It depends on who you’re talking to and how important it is for them to also pick up on nuances you’re trying to convey VS just the broader sense of the topic.

For all his flaws, this was a thing I’ve always loved (reading) about how Richard Feynman taught. The books Six Easy Pieces and Quantum Electro Dynamics are insanely complicated physics framed in a way an interested 15 year old (me!) could/can understand, and *well*.
