My apartment building caught on fire earlier today. Lots of damage and my apartment (209) is right beside the one where it happened (208). Made it out immediately and and safe, but scary as fuck. I still don’t have any answers on how much damage there is, or if the building or my stuff will survive.

I might only have the clothes that I’m wearing my wallet, keys, and phone now. I’ll know more tomorrow, but this is kind of a big worry. At least it seems everyone in my building are reported to have survived. community and connection helps a lot in situations like this. May have been much worse.

The update in the article says the building was knocked down an hour ago. I may have lost everything.

I said to my family that I would scan all of these photos to have a digital copy if anything happens and preserving them somehow at least. Going through them, seeing the past, my dad, aunt, and others who've passed since away, and my older brother whose lost contact over 7 years ago (still alive?)

Looks like I may be able to go in with attendance in a week or two to recover some things. If salvagable: Laptop, hard drives, accessories, Dad's jacket, sign, inukshuk, eagle, ashes, rosary, photos, vinyls, gems, jewellry, gifts, Mickey glass(es), zippo, table, year books, tax stuff, mugs, razor...

Going in to get whatever I can tomorrow. I still don't know the extent of damage on the inside of my apartment unit, but seeing the ones above and beside mine, could all be pretty charred. I'm kind of curious just to see how it all faired and will try to get pictures of the remains from the inferno.

Scheduled to get the last of my stuff on the 27th and 28th. Submitted an application for the apartment I was directed towards. Had a doctor's appointment today, got fresh prescriptions, counselling set up. Nothing else to report for now unless anyone actually responds or wants to know how I'm doing.
