I have a whole folder of ATProto apps on iOS (plus a select few directly on my Home Screen). Today we call them “ATproto” apps. In the future … they’re just a better way to build a wide range of apps, where users own their data, login in anywhere, and choose different interfaces.

Genuinely, I wish it was called something else, something a bit more... consumer-friendly? I always found "Nostr" quite friendly, despite the protocol being a minefield. It's (annoyingly) still nicer to say "Login with Bluesky" instead of "Login with ATProto".

Yeah, I’m getting regular feedback from normies who do have Bluesky accounts and were confused by what an “ATProto handle” or “ATProto account” mean. Maybe an example on the entry box that says “yourhandle.bsky.social” will help, but it confused even people who were willing to search online.

"open social web" it's a bigger tent than just ATProto, but that's a feature, not a bug

I don’t think any of these things are consumer friendly by name or nature. IMAP???? There will need to be some concerted efforts at common login widgets and UX / design / branding.

It's more to the fact ATProto is supposed be at the forefront, and is ideally what we'd like people to refer to this as (instead of Bluesky), so a name like "ATProto" is a bit... clinical.

hey @bmann.ca if we didn't hear back yet on our ATMosphere proposals should we assume they are not accepted? LinkedTrust team did one on a lexicon for claims and attestations ; i did one for atproto is kafka I may prepare different ways if accepted or not - do we know? thx!

We are processing the very long list now and will do rolling reject / accept. There will also be self directed unconf spaces we are keeping open.

ok awesome! will keep our fingers crossed and prep regardless...i am talking to more folks who might want to come remote, will engage over in that thread. thanks for the answer!
