For years, people have lodged complaints about Tesla’s doors. With no official statistics, Bloomberg did its own analysis on the number of fatal crashes in the US in which door functionality played a role. Read more: bloom.bg/49tm0fF 📷️: Getty Images

Well, it's a 'little' more than 15 Running behind, but my latest count in my spreadsheet is 156 (156 people dying inside a burning Tesla, unable to get out) bsky.app/profile/tona...

That's now 'burned inside a Tesla' victim .. 156 2.5 times more per Tesla than even the infamous '70s Ford Pinto Meanwhile Nissan Leaf, since 2009: zero fire victims My spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Which is why I mentioned the ~2,5 times more fire deaths per Tesla rate compared to the infamous '70 Ford Pinto. My spreadsheet compares all cases known. As it should be.

I've been mentioning this Kafkaesque 'Tesla doors staying closed' fire hazard since .. 2013. And .. nothing happened, so I started documenting it A simple test: crash a Tesla model Y (dark) into another EV (white VW ID.6), at only 64 km/h - 40 mph Watch what happened to the Tesla driver door:

As I understand/recall, when Musk staged a takeover of the company, one of the changes he demanded to near-finished Roadster (and by doing so delaying the release such that the company almost went under right there), was a different door. Is it that murder door, or are these separate designs?

Nobody needed to redesign door handles and latches. They were pretty much optimized. EVs electric propulsion is the "gee-whiz" factor. They don't need to do giant touch screen or funky door handles to sell them. (And its NOT a meaningful aerodynamic drag thing...)

The team with transportation should be reviewed in Canada. How did they allow emergency mechanical latches to not be integrated into the normal exit handle. Musk is a complete dumb arse for hiding emergency latches, he is not an engineer.
