14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!

Suppose we grant the premise, for argument's sake. If you're worried about poorly behaved cyclists interfering with motorists and pedestrians, you should WANT them in their own lane, out of the way of cars and off the sidewalks

Based on my online and on-bike experiences, car owners think roads are for cars and bikes belong on sidewalks. They care less about pedestrians than bikes. Nevermind it's more dangerous and sometimes illegal. Also see any reddit post about critical mass for the most unhinged takes on the topic.
