I FIRMLY believe the doodle trend can be laid largely at the feet of straight husbands who refused to get an *actual standard poodle* because “they’re dogs for girls.”

Meanwhile anybody who's actually met a standard poodle can tell you that they are wicked smart and territorial as hell which is exactly what that sort of person would want in a dog.

My dad has a standard poodle and having met a standard poodle it's why I would not get one lol.

The ones I’ve known have all been awesome

My dad's poodles have all be nice dogs and good dogs but also too smart for their own good and a giant pain in the ass.

I am firmly in the ‘you only want your dog to be so smart and no more’ camp
