Sending this out to whoever needs to see it: It's okay if you read slowly, there's no great victory in being able to read quickly, everyone kind of has their own reading speed, and that's perfectly fine. I'm just really happy you're reading. I hope it gives you joy at any pace. Thank you!

The only thing that makes me sad about being a slow reader is that I can basically never agree to reading other people's stuff for blurbs because I just won't get through it in time.

Audiobooks give me more flexibility than reading. Just finished the 2nd volume (580 pages/24hrs) of a very popular trilogy listening at 1.8 to 2.0 speed. It ‘s well written, but IMO overstuffed & needs editing. 2x got me through digressions. OTH, I listen to books I enjoy at 1.2-1.3x to savor them.

I don't know if this helps, but I've never bought a book based on a promotional cover blurb, even if it's provided by a writer whose work I like. I rely much more on downloadable samples these days, but even in the old days, not much of a blurb follower.
