You’ll be able to deselect articles during the import quickly, so you can definitely pause for now and handle the rest in one go!

Cool! Presumably it will create draft posts so I can edit extraneous content? Will I be able to edit the publication dates to match originals?

backdating is the main goal (so yes), but you can choose between publishing at once, and importing everything as a draft to publish yourself. original dates are saved so once you go to publish a draft you don’t have to fiddle with the date unless you want to modify it.
