It’s important to recognize good actions by companies re the war in Ukraine. Elon Musk and Space X decision the shutdown Starlink to the Russia side of the illegal invasion has been very hurtful to the Russian military and caused borderline panic. Good call

Where is Congress? Where are the international institutions? We've now been reduced to total reliance on one individual occasionally doing the right thing. The last tweet he saw could determine the fate of nations. This is insanity.

I for one time and one time only do also thank musk. First thing he's done that doesn't jibe with trump's attraction to Putin or trump's agenda of power

Was this before or after Ukraine sold Russia a fake StarLink so Ukraine could spy on Russian military? Seems like Russia wouldn’t trust StarLink after that anyway. #MuskSux

What if... hear me out... he hadn't been providing Starlink to the Russian military for the last couple years (either directly or inadvertently)? Or what if he didn't turn it off on Ukrainian counter-offensives while they were being attacked every single day?

weaponizing space technology is a bad idea. spy satellites are one thing, and they're accepted at this point. but this is an incredibly risky move, should russia decide to take action against starlink satellites. you people have no clue how tenuous the security of this infrastructure really is.

Good call, but I'm afraid Musk is playing god here. Next week, he might decide to do the exact opposite, just to see what happens... The ideal would be for Starlink to be in safer hands or to have an alternative to Starlink.

It's also important to recognize that Elon musk is in the files many times. His photos are in there. I agree it's good for Ukraine but Elon musk is a horrible fucking person for the world order.

Looks like the ketamine finally wore off. Good job for the guy that gave a nazi salute to the nazi sry I meant MAGA cult... damn auto correct.

Worth pointing out that earlier in the war they shut it down for the UKRAINIANS at one point. (Don’t know if it was ever reinstated.) Elon just makes whatever decision he thinks is expedient for himself at a given moment.

Except as someone pointed out after I reposted this, Musk did the same thing to Ukraine last summer. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an option to delete a repost or I would.

I remeber when he did this to the Ukrainians as well. I guess it’s too much to ask to live in a world where a Bond villain doesn’t get to put their thumb on a scale on whether or not the good guys carry the day.

What? He supplied it to them to begin with… he cutoff ukraines access to it several times over money disputes… he’s a transphobic nazi bigot and the fact his company finally did the right thing shouldn’t be praised it should be investigated on why it took this long to accomplish.

Adam, No more both-siding things, please. Sure, it was a "good-call"... ...no reason to give props either. Musk fucks kids. His companies are parasitic just like he is, along with the rest of the Epstein Class. No offense, but you and the Regonites and Neolibs ushered the doom into the U.S.

The problem there is that Russia's been using Starlink since the summer, and all this did was prove that Elon has been able to do it for half a year but didn't. I really think this is a tantrum because Russia didn't protect him from the Epstein Files.

I'd be more impressed if I thought they'd done it for righteous reasons and not because the Russians were stealing the connectivity.

Is it a “good call” from the perspective of an IPO, or from the perspective of doing what’s right? Russia should never had access to Starlink to begin with. Don’t pretend that a technology company didn’t know where its users were located.

Actually... Yeah, fair point. You do not have to. :P Though... MAYBE it will encourage him to be less of a shitbag. Sometimes. But yeah, no person has an obligation to give the Apartheid Emerald Heir a milligram of due, consideration, or even moldy cheese.

Musk was pressured to do this. Has absolutely nothing to do with him doing the right thing. Musk is Putin’s other little bitch. Remember when musk took starlink offline for Ukraine a couple years ago when they were about to use it for a coordinated attack on Russia? You should!

A Good call????? Musk is suddenly very publicly angry at Russia—for the first time ever—just as we find out that the Epstein honeypot operation that almost ensnared him (and that he has, in any case, had his reputation further destroyed by) was a Kremlin production? Yeah, he's a real hero.

He turned Ukrainian Starlink off when they were attacking the Russians once before too. Now he's trying to make friends with Zelensky because he sees the writing on the wall for Putin. Scumbag will just wait til it's convenient to betray us too.

The real question is why was it available to them until now if Musk always had the option to shut down the service selectively only for Russians? There have been sanctions for years. Why was Starlink allowed to bypass sanctions?

See the UKR secret service were selling Russians fake Starlink licenses, and using their contact deets, to bomb them🤣🤣🤣

Musk is only doing it because he wants to take SpaceX public and the potential investment pool against Russia is larger than the investment pool for Russia

Sometimes people do the right thing for the wrong reasons. I’m sure making more money is ultimately behind this turnabout. Not morality. So trust but verify. After he makes his money play, anything can happen.

Maybe. I lost trust in him, so we don’t really know what he is doing behind the scenes. It could be he is giving covertly locations of Ukrainian dishes to russians.
