What do I see when I look across America right now? Fear. That is Trump’s legacy. Fear of the government. Fear of immigrants. Fear of crime. Fear of being fired. Everyone is afraid to be alive. Growing up, I thought the dystopian novels I read would never come true. Now I'm living in them. Farenheit 451, Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm, Nueromancer, Snowcrash, and more. I thought people would read these and realize this isn't the world we want to live in. I didn't realize no one reads.

I have already voted for the election in California. I voted Democrat down the whole ticket. I abstained from voting in uncontested Republican elections or wrote in a name. Then came the slew of other things to vote on. I voted to increase taxes on rich wherever I could as well.

The betrayal of Ukraine through Elon by proxy is par for the course for America right now. All our allies should see this for what it is, a pure political attempt to align ourselves with Russia over oil. It shows that America is not to be trusted, which is always the case with selfish countries.

The Shane McGillis monologue on SNL was a classic example of male toxic behavior in its jokes. The whole monologue reminds me of what I hated in high school and college about hanging out with other men.

I will not celebrate Christopher Columbus. His arrival in the Americas started the centuries of exploitation and destruction of the Native Americans who lived here. The Spanish and their missionaries were a blight. Not to mention everything that has happened to Puerto Rico started with this.

Listening to the Daily podcast this morning on the Cornell case. That university fucked up the handling of this case. The handling of this shows the problems with title 9 enforcement by an institution that has every interest in minimizing media exposure for incidents that occur on its campus.

I watched Jack Smith today and what I saw was complete incompetence on the Republican questions. Then I saw an attempt to cover that up on Twitter and other platforms with outright lies. Then I heard a Republican say the lies from Twitter to my face about Jack Smith. They did not watch Jack testify.

I have no respect for this president, his administration or his Gestapo. The rampant incompetence makes me sick to be an American. Fuck him. Fuck his supporters. They are everything wrong with this country and are a severe problem for our democracy.

I am not hopeful for the future right now. Hard to work when you think tomorrow will literally be worse than today.

Star Trek turns 60 today, and the future it promised seems farther away than ever. A multicultural, multiethnic future where people work together to explore space and expand knowledge.
