Sep 4: The U.N. General Assembly voted to adopt a new world map that reflects countries’ true relative sizes, after nations urged the UN to fix a centuries-old wrong. The “Correct the Map” resolution passed with 164 members in favor, 6 abstained and only the United States voted against it. Shame!

It’s Santo Domingo, a holiday, especially in Santo Domingo de Heredia, Costa Rica. This year it’s marked by eight days of fiesta and processions. Here we have a procession of big-rigs being blessed by the local priest with holy water.

People really have no concept of large numbers. We use metaphors to try and grasp at them. But even those are often more numbing than enlightening. Still here is a good one…
