"But the preferred option comes with a price tag of more than half a billion." Oh no! We couldn't possibly run hourly trains between two of the North Island's three biggest cities for a price tag as steep as *checks notes* 1/7th the cost of a motorway to save a few minutes on the drive to Northland

Tragic incident at Annecy, and now this just after Lightbbox…correlation isn’t causation but hey guys, no more animation gatherings in 2026, yeah?

The show became a success because of the crew involved and they get rewarded by all being fired/not renewed as production moves to Canada, where Canadians get cursed by being paid dirt and being yelled at to deliver the same quality for less money and most likely less time.

‘The Loud House’ received a last-minute renewal, Jessica Borutski, the show’s head director since Season 4, confirmed on a recent podcast. Production has moved from the U.S. to Canada, with the entire production crew replaced while the voice cast remains.

If any of my network would like to put in a good word for me at Glitch, I applied to the lighting supervisor position 🙏 I have the lead light/comp experience, know how to QC work, and provide excellent notes, and come with bonus TD experience too!

It felt important to immortalize the exact outfit I chased down my neighbor’s husky in when the meter reader didn’t realize there was a dog in their yard:

What would a 5% tax on billionaire wealth actually look like? There are 938 billionaires in America with more than $8 trillion in combined wealth. So Ben and I decided to make the numbers visible—and then ask a simple question: what could that money actually do?

Kinda wild that sleeping porches never took off in Southern California. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one and I am an extensive browser of real estate websites for homes I can’t afford.

Skydance now owns Nick, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and MTV, effectively ending US TV animation as we know it. Countless jobs will be lost, and fewer new shows will be created. An apocalyptic scenario for cartoons, yet it's maybe the 5th-worst thing about the Paramount-WB merger!

i thought he was gonna talk about the phenomenon where cops in the suburbs will literally pick up homeless guys from their suburb and just drop them off on the street downtown, but this is good too.

Holy shit.

昨日はエアコンが壊れちゃったて明日、金物店に行かなければなりませんから、新しい小さいエアコンを買うよ。今週と来週は暑いすぎだ。私の猫は暑いすぎだ。でも新しいエアコンが高いすぎそうだ…

All my Instagram ads are career coaching for laid off/unemployed lmaoooooooo Honestly tempted to contact and be like “so animation, know anything about that?”

Bonta, you bitchass coward. May your pillow never be cool.

BREAKING: Paramount has reached a settlement with California and other states suing to block its acquisition of Warner Bros, per Bloomberg. The settlement comes after California AG Rob Bonta caved and stopped trying to block the merger. The final four holdout states have now conceded as well.

I’m gonna need boomers in waiting rooms to not have their phone’s ring tones and volume generally on the highest setting. Please. I beg. You are in public.

holy shit, this is the whole ballgame in a single paragraph gAI systems require mass theft of copyrighted works, for the explicit purpose of replacing the market for the people they stole from, and the people in charge knew what they were doing ahead of time, and did it anyway

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

I miss these so much.

randomly remembered art student owl (and these types of memes generally).. and this feels like not only from like a whole different era of the internet (it *was* 15 years ago) but from a whole different era of humanity altogether

“Our latest findings on their feeding adaptations counter the myths that drove the thylacine to extinction.” This animal was hunted to extinction. They assumed it was a livestock predator with no evidence. There were bounties. Fuck British colonizers forever, man.

Majority of US animation companies: anyone can apply! No geofence or restriction Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Ireland, etc: if you don’t allow us to qualify for a tax subsidy you can FUCK OFF. Don’t even bother filling out a form.
