btw the cause of the headset freezing when booting was: it would auto-update despite me having updates turned off -> there was not enough free space on the device to apply updates so it would freeze during boot with no indication it had done so

- new navigator doesn't play well with lightning launcher - the thing that prompted me to post this though is that (i think) an update is failing so despite me doing nothing i now have to force reboot the headset like 6 times to get it to boot past the meta logo. [...]

Approaching a year ago now, there was an official re-serialization of Homestuck. It went through the whole comic in a couple months, but what interests me the most was that the Discord server had a new reader channel. Only new readers could talk, but anyone could view it.

It's a rather fascinating concept, isn't it? What will they converge on with the extant fandom versus come up with on their own? Originally a thread was made to "observe" the new readers, but a dedicated channel had to be created after the thread hit the 1000 member limit.

Looking back it was terribly parasocial, but I think people were interested for good reason! A lab-grown fandom was forming. How often do you see that? A couple dozen people, reading in parallel, churning out fanart, theories, and discourse independent of what already existed for a decade or two.
