is it just me or does nostalgia sometimes feel haunting? like... it's a lovely reminder of a pleasant time/perspective long past, yet it's persistently haunting that you'll never find it again. a snapshot of an era you deeply crave to return to, permanently out of reach. anyway happy thursday LMAO

i love learning languages, but my own tribal language (yoruba) is probably the toughest that i've studied. "ni" is a form of "to be", but "nΓ" means "to have" AND "in/at" "mo" is regular "i", but "mọ" is "to know" "n" is the negative form of "i", but "Ε„" is the present progressive tense marker

"wΓ " is another form of "to be" (location) but "wΓ‘" means "to come"! so many important words are the same with small changes in pitch or vowel pronunciation!!! it's a fun challenge, and it reminds me of learning mandarin, but the essentials all being so similar is an immediate steep learning curve

my teacher brain is infecting my artist brain teacher brain: do thing in a way => develop habit artist brain: write bad music => develop habit of writing bad music i'm too afraid to make things because they might be bad!! i gotta write a ton of music and get better!!!

arcangelo corelli - sonata da chiesa a tre, op. 3 no. 11 in g minor: ii. presto i had a project back in college connecting baroque counterpoint and 8-bit vgm/chiptune music due to tech constraints! so i made this arrangement of a corelli trio sonata 🎻 #music | #musictheory | #vgm | #chiptune

Proud to have worked on the score, sound design, mix, and title theme for this episode of Animation Station at @shockwaveanimation.bsky.social! I'm especially proud of the title theme; such a rewarding end product. Here's a little peek behind the scenes! #indieanimation | #2danimation | #composer

i'll always have a soft spot for shows i grew up with like little bear, charlie & lola, miss spider's sunny patch friends, max & ruby, etc. and that lives on in the widespread appreciation of bluey! shows that have something for parents, too. plus they're just super soothing hahaha

But y'know; everything's a journey. It takes practice to focus on your own enjoyment and identity as an artist and less on a vague perceived perfection. Hopefully over time I can keep practicing to just be more open about who I am and what I like to make and what my work sounds like! (6/7)

If you made it down here, I'm wishing you success and artistic fulfillment. I kinda just wrote this for myself (I gotta do that more on socials), but if you related to this, I hope it helped to show you're not alone. It's rough out here, and we've gotta be rough back. Good luck!! (7/7)

So when I make things, it's a TON of effort to perfect it as much as I can (within the timeframe I have, if applicable). So while everything that I do is charged with an insane amount of thought, my progress is inconsistent and exhausting. And that strangles the enjoyment out of what I do. (4/7)

It's difficult to curtail this, and I've tried many times to just let myself be okay with my work not looking great or sounding great for the sake of just creating/experimenting. But it's tough! Especially with the job market I'm trying to break into, it feels like every little thing matters. (5/7)

Not only am I afraid of feeling/"realizing" that I'm not as skilled as I'd hoped, but also putting it out and being perceived as less skilled than I'm capable of. The perception angle primarily comes from anticipating potential employers' eyes, but I do also consider my peers to some extent. (2/7)

This is both in regards to whatever I generally write on social media and specifically WORK that I post (and it's why I rarely actually post anything haha). I'd like to create something new every day, even most days. But it's exhausting to put all of my work under such strict scrutiny. (3/7)

The game industry is rough right now for a lot of people. It sucks. Business can be brutal. But I don't believe that means WE should be brutal. Times like these are all the more reason to be kind to one another. If we give up our humanity in order to survive, what is the point of survival?

maybe we don't call it that anymore because the songs aren't really eurobeat/4-on-the-floor type songs, and that's frequently what people envision with the term. personally? i think we should start calling it nightcore again regardless LMAO i want that back

TEARING MY HAIR OUT That Fmaj7 in Sakurasou's OP is the bVII7, not bII7!! Transcriber's worst nightmare LMAO

As I've watched anime over the years, I've come to find that opening themes with chord progressions that involve modal interchange or end with an extended chord tend to give me more nostalgia! So, like a nerd, I decided to analyze a few LMAO #music | #musictheory | #musiccomposition | #animation

I kinda found myself at odds as to whether or not to include the Dsus11 (C/D) as being notable, but I figured that because it's somewhat fleeting, a common pop slash chord, not the final chord, and not modal interchange, that it wasn't! I didn't even hear it was there until I was really analyzing!

As a composer, my long-term goal has always been writing for a feature-length animated film. But with my experience creating and directing L'Allunaggio del Lupo... now I want to direct more music-focused animated media. Maybe a concept album of some sort, or a narrative suite!

Okay creative folks, what is your deepest wish hidden in your creative heart you hope that ever will happen with your work? A movie adaption? FanArt? FanFics? A TV Series? Merchandise? Animation? A cult following? Doesn't matter how improbable it seems!
