I just got back from a week spent in Qualicum Beach. The town is completely and hilariously dead at night. This was delightful both for dog walk and for taking capturing some nighttime scenes.

I really wish social media platforms cared 1/100th as much about shielding us from seeing blood and gore as they do about shielding us from female presenting nipples.

Anyone credulously talking about how this is the first conservative government BC has had in a century need to shut up and take a seat.

cc: @albertandp.ca Present a genuine alternative vision for our province that is more than just "Conservatives bad". Most of us want more investment in renewable and climate resiliency, not more fucking pipelines.

I brought home some wonderful Tofino Coffee Roasters beans back from the Island with me. Only problem is it's so good I made and drank an entire pot to myself this morning.

I spent the last week of the election at my parents' place in Qualicum. They had the news on constantly & the juxtaposition of Doerkson being at ease among people & rarely raising his voice vs. Eby being awkward in all circumstances & constantly raising the alarm was a striking emotional difference.

The Conservatives projected enough normalcy to the public. NDP voter enthusiasm collapsed. And David Eby made a decision that will be derided for decades. Here's my post-election column. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

It didn't really matter that Doerkson hardly said anything of substance for the whole election, and it probably helped that he has virtualy no public history.

I was super impressed with what I saw of Green leader Emily Lowan. Smart, witty...the actual best costed platform (by the estimate of several BC economists, not me), I'd love to see her on a national stage.

I say this as someone who would NEVER vote Conservative. Doerkson projected such a calm, likeable demeanour that I'm sure it swayed many voters who were already pissed at Eby. The cons also carpet bombed an extremely effective ad that called out Eby's opportunism.

Snapped this yesterday when Dolly and I were walking in Tsawassen. The moon was gorgeous and this fallow field was giving Tuscany vibes.

I was gonna complain about pedantic Bluesky posters but like...they're the dictionary. If you look up "pedantic" it's in their book.

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

I gotta tell you. Two places I like having red tape are in the ministry of health and the ministry of the environment. I want an abundance of caution and all sorts of hoops they have to jump through.

Never in the history of Canada's Pest Control Products Act have changes to pesticide protections come from the Department of Finance. Until now. Today, Elizabeth May asked why these changes weren't coming from the Minister of Health. The answer? "We're cutting red tape."

Leaving the island is always a bit of a tough day for me. I especially miss the Arbutus trees.

I sincerely look forward to every single Bob Uecker reference, joke and story we're gonna get through this World Series.

I know most of my mutuals are smart enough that I don't have to say this, but still: DO NOT connect any of your banking or credit card info to meta's agentic ai or anyone else's. That's a recipe to lose all your money for sure.

Have you ever consider Mermaid as a group costume? Tons of fun but tough to go trick or treating.

This is the Nenshi I'd like to vote for, not the mealy mouthed one that's on the party's official comms channels.

Naheed Nenshi on the immigration questions: "I am happy to have a conversation on numbers. I am not happy to have a conversation on the dignity of newcomers, and I'm not happy to have people voting on whether other people should have human rights."

Some sites use placeholder text in their form fields instead of labels. The problem is that as soon as you start typing, that text disappears. This can be a problem for many users, including screen reader users and people with cognitive disabilities. Always use a visual form label for instructions.
