As none of you told me, I'm assuming none of you know that you can turn off the AI answers in Google and trigger it to use web-only search. You'll still get slop at the top because that's just SEO in the Age of Enshittification, but do this to remove the overconfident arsewipe of a first answer.

ooooh this is such a weird book (complimentary)

Audition by @pipadam.bsky.social has won the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction! 🎉🎉🎉 ‘An ambitious and original book about many things: the carceral state, dehumanization, memory and, perhaps above all, forgiveness as a way forward… An astonishing and ultimately joyful work.’ bit.ly/3WEBNoQ

Just interviewed Fergus Linehan (now CEO of Carriageworks) and the first thing he said was "have we meet before? you look familiar". Friends, the last time we met was when he was director of Sydney Festival in 2007 and I was a volunteer.

Went on a road trip and left my phone in a friend's car. She's going to bring it back to me tomorrow morning so I get a taste of what it feels like to live in the 1990s again for one night. First thing I did was ask my bf to set a morning alarm for me because I no longer have a separate alarm clock.

Had a 'Vienna' earworm due to the below post but the other one rattling around in my head is Rufus Wainwright's 'Between My Legs' for NO reason. I cannot sing the weirdly shaped verses but I like belting out the chorus and outro.

I'm not sure how the people going from Parra to the city fared. The wharf had about 200 people waiting, and about 30 of them had bikes with another dozen with strollers.

WOW. I'm at Ashfield Library and a librarian asked a man to put his shoes back on and then he ranted at her for several minutes ranging from "get off the fkn property" (uh, you first, she works here) to racist and sexist slurs. Full yelling in front of all the kids. He left, though.

I was fortunate enough to see Prince twice in concert. Once at the old Ent Cent in Sydney where I could only get nosebleed section tix. Gotta be 20 years ago now. But the man has what the kids call rizz and it stretched all the way to the back.

The second time was a few months before he died, at the State Theatre (also Sydney). The tix were super exxy but I knew he was worth it. He just sat at a piano and played through. Also amazing. Extra special in retrospect knowing it was the last time.

omg, I want more teahouses to do this!

Friday Afternoon Tea@fridaytea.com

Did you know? You can request a gongfu set at our tea house to brew your own tea in a more Eastern style than our usual french press service offers. It's so easy, just ask for gongfu materials at the counter. You can even choose your own tea pet from our tea pet library!

Just found an email inviting me to become a tea correspondent for a new global org. They want TWO stories a week and *don't pay*. Fortunately the deadline has passed so instead I'm gonna build my own portfolio, thanks.

My eldest niece turns 18 today. What even is time? At the weekend we were watching videos of when she was a baby/toddler, including the time I went to Japan when my brother lived there and I spent a great deal of it carrying a stroller up/down lots of stairs.

Found out Fishbowl changed its name to Thisbowl and only at that moment did I realise Fishbowl is a nod to the place where domestic fish might live and not just putting fish in a bowl to eat. I'm so oblivious to commercial puns. (I've never eaten fish at Fishbowl. I only get the beef or chicken.)
