young catholic “debate bros” make catholicism as a religion look inherently worse than it actually is to the average person

Really funny when there’s this guy I’m living with at college who is asking me like “Where do atheists get their morality from” and then telling me that getting my morality from my peers and the people around me is a “fallacy of consensus” is funny.

He doesn’t know that I think that religion is inherently necessary, but for people who have no goals and nothing to strive for in life, and that the people who have zero passions or zero interests need a god to hold on to in order to keep themselves going day to day.

Like, yeah I think that morality does come from the society we live in, and we live in a society that comes from reason, not revelation, so if we have people who fight for their desire to exist, give themselves a reason to live, then yeah, those people inherently deserve to live.

The problem with modern society is that there’s a company for everything. To look for jobs I need to go on to a job board ran by a single company. To date I need to go on a dating site ran by a single company. Yes, have a handful of companies decide your entire life.

was in an uber with my homie bc we went to see pierce the veil last night we talked with the driver about ai, automation n shit guarantee you the average person does not like the way that AI is being implemented rn people do not want this

Instagram reels are insane right now. Lot of prude puritanical thinking, everything being blamed on the Jews, and right-wing Catholic, Protestant fundamentalist thinking is on it too. My thoughts are that the algorithms are trying to build a more controllable generation. Go outside.

right-wing grifters on youtube are so funny man, it’s just a dude who is part of a minority group talking about “omg this is so not normal” and then talking about “no i’m not a grifter” but bro, you are, you’re literally pandering to groups that hate your ass and then claiming you aren’t a grifter

“Hi my name’s Sam Altman and I’m going to present to you another AGI, it’s 100% real this time and it will take over the economy. Please give me your money, I’m begging you.”

Inherently, I think it’s good to get some movement, go outside, do something to get your brain thinking. I just don’t like running in 90 degree weather.

Genuinely why is it so hard for neurotypical family members to not butt in when you're trying to do work. Like yeah, a project can take me the entire day because I get distracted, you saying "I just wish you could sit down and focus for 2 hours" doesn't fucking help.

It's gotten to the point where I believe in found family now. I don't really trust the majority of my immediate family and find better advice given from my closest friends and the people that I know well, because I don't expect my real family to actually care anymore.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just tired of the bullshit that gets thrown at me by my ignorant family who just thinks I'm lazy or a slack-off when I have actual issues and then they just think I'm abandoning them. Maybe you should've actually helped me when I was younger, I wouldn't have these issues.

And then when snap back because literally all you do is bitch and complain about my fucking mannerisms I'm the villain all of a sudden. Not hard to just leave me alone, y'know? When do people understand that I'm not like them. Sorry I care about the classes and work that I'm doing.

I'm just tired man, all these damn projects for my summer class, finally coming to a close. I was supposed to be out on vacation by now, but I still have to finish this project, so unfortunately I can't really just drop it.

very appalling to see people calling to repeal the 19th amendment after the mistrial of the lindsay clancy case. good to know that because it would require a 2/3 vote in congress that it's mathematically impossible to occur.

man the algorithms have gotten so bad even youtube is throwing far-right authoritarian slop content at me by podcasters doing stuff like “are lesbians faking it” or “did europeans ruin the birth rate by taking away pedophilia” seriously google is this the best psyop you’ve got?

Something about Anthropic that worries me is the strength of Claude. Claude is a useful tool for research and development, and it can do a lot for you when you need to pull or scrape things. The scary part is, will Anthropic pull the moral code to gain more power?

There is a question I want to answer: “How can we prevent children from accessing age-restricted sites without giving companies unrestricted access to the information of the users accessing it?”

The web is so amazing. Really pisses me off to see my politicians fucking destroying it. I want to learn more about the web and further it so I can do more to protect this beautiful ecosystem.

So is applying for internships for CS just "hey I do web3 with react and svelte, also I use claude code" and the HR manager just explodes with joy?

It is crazy how much of the general mental anguish can be cleared with physical exercise. Go have a little jog even if you feel like you are really bad at it and have no stamina like me. It does not magically heal depression, but is a good and effective practice regardless.

love seeing preachers come up to me at college trying to give me a presentation on their church and why i should join it. imma keep my money thank you, i already know what to expect from you guys.
