🌿 The work doesn’t stop here! We have a big job ahead managing Pulloxhill Marsh alongside our 100 other nature reserves across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, while expanding and connecting our network for nature.

1/5 📣🎉 Great news! Thanks to our incredibly generous supporters, we’ve raised the funds to buy Pulloxhill Marsh in Bedfordshire! 🙌 We launched an appeal earlier this year to raise nearly £100,000 to protect this special fragment of ancient wetland. It’s been a huge success!

🫶 Every donation has made a difference, from £10 gifts to pledges of several thousand pounds. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who contributed. Our friends at Bedfordshire Natural History Society also supported the appeal. We look forward to working together to record the many species found here.

💦 Fed by springs, Pulloxhill Marsh is close to our Flitwick Moor reserve and is home to pignut, marsh valerian, reeds, sedges and several rare insect species. 🐸🦋 Protecting places like this helps give wildlife a future.

📸 Could your photo be our next Header Photo of the Month? 🌿 Send us your favourite photo taken on one of our reserves for a chance to feature on our Facebook & Bluesky headers! 📅 Deadline: 20th October 📧 communicationsteam@wildlifebcn.org We can't wait to see your photos!

We're delighted to say that the free shuttle bus from Ramsey centre to the Apple and Harvest Fair is running again this year. Thanks to Ramsey Community Bus! Here's the timetable. @wildlifebcn.org #appleandharvestfair #AppleDay #CommunityEvent #FreeEvent #communitysupport

This months header winner is Neil St John with this shot all the team loved, of a bittern and sheep at Summer Leys! The team loved this one as it looks like the sheep is a little shocked to have seen the elusive bittern. Well done Neil.

✅On #GiftAidAwarenessDay, we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our donors who #TickTheBox. You help us to help so many more! Every year, charities miss out on £560m in unclaimed Gift Aid tax relief. Help us claim more and do more. #GiftAidAwarenessDay @cfgsocial.bsky.social

We welcomed Sam Carling, MP for North West Cambs, to the Great Fen on Friday. He met our CEO Brian Eversham and Director of Conservation Matt Jackson at the site of our most recent wetland restoration work at New Decoy Farm and learnt about the importance of rewetting this peatland landscape.

We're sharing the power of #paludiculture at the Cambridge Biodiversity & Regenerative Food Festival this Sunday! Free entry. Parker's Piece, Cambridge | Sunday 27th September | 10:30 - 16:00. See you there!

👷‍♀️We lowered and enlarged an island at Lilbourne Meadows in Northants in August to benefit wading birds which love muddy edges where they can feed on insect larvae. 🐣Oystercatcher and little ringed plover have bred on the island since it was created.

🪩Disco the highland cow calf born last year in Northants. He's transformed into a moody teen with a spectacular fringe and is looking for love with some of the older females of the herd. 🤞No luck yet but there's plenty of time and lots of work to do on our reserves grazing wildflower meadows.

🦋Some butterflies to remind us of summer... 💛A clouded yellow snapped by Steve Clark at Summer Leys in Northants. 🌷Great Fen conservation officer Jasmin spotted this beautiful wall butterfly recently. 🥰And this summer silver washed fritillaries returned to Oaks Wood in Cambourne - by Nik.
