Have you had questions about how 'An Infamous Traffic' approaches it's subject matter? We want to treat games and their players seriously, so we hope this provides some meaningful context for players while the game is still in development.

Here's a tiny piece giving some historical context for An Infamous Traffic and the ways it relates to our present moment. Come watch live at 10:00am CDT! youtu.be/BHj415Wpbos?...

Cole, as ever, has a very keen eye for historical parallels, and the power of commerce on the British Empire feels like the closest match we have for the inescapable grip of global commerce

A huge thank you to @wehrlegig.games for supporting our Play and Win with the one and only John Company: Second Edition. A game like no other, you and the other players will wrestle for control of the East India Trading Company, as you are forced to reckon with the evils it wrought upon India.

The Folks over at @wehrlegig.games are running a kickstarter for their new game, Infamous Traffic. Seeing I have had the chance to play it a good bit already and I think it is worth checking out. It made sense to drop some thoughts to help people find out what it is about. shorturl.at/tXLP6

Some guy on BGG wants to know why Christian missionaries increase the demand for opium in An Infamous Traffic. Me: Hey, I'm a professor of Christian history! I can answer this! Guy: I don't like your answer. I don't believe it. Those missionaries wouldn't have done that. ... okey dokey

A great conversation, not only about the game but also about creating historical games in general, from research to aesthetics to design and production. Well worth the watch!

Talking with Cole makes me excited about playing and making games. Also I’m still thinking about that play I had of the new Traffic at HistCon. The folks at @wehrlegig.games have made their most immediate and accessible game yet but it has all the sharp edges of a good business game.

This particular trailer felt like such a great example of the collaborative work happening at Buried Giant. Many different skillsets came together to make something I think is pretty good! Anyways, go back our game! youtu.be/XgHTfwMq6tw

@colewehrle.bsky.social is a man who needs no further glazing in his career, but I will happily support any project he launches! It’s one of the games I was just slightly too late in my exploration to get the first edition. So glad I’ll be given a chance to try the game now! @wehrlegig.games

Instantly backed this. The version I played at HistCon North this summer was excellent and apparently it continues to be improved by the team. We'll have episode of @decisionspace.bsky.social tomorrow with @colewehrle.bsky.social talking about the economic/business game heritage of this one.

Today's designer diary covers the early stages of An Infamous Traffic: Second Edition, the difficulty of understanding how designs really work, and how, at least for me, coming to really dislike something is often the first step in building something new. boardgamegeek.com/thread/37682...

This weekend I had the privilege of grappling with some very big and difficult games with a spotlight on Michael Lorino's Imperial Elegy. As usual, the whole experience got me thinking about big games, what they demand of their players and the rewards to be found in their exploration. 🧵

Managed to sneak into the @wehrlegig.games John Company mega game! Played Julia Benyon who ended up as a part of the court of directors the whole game. With a combo of some clutch blackmail and a lot of wheeling and dealing the Benyon family managed to come out on top of a very competitive game!
