And don't get me wrong, I collect MTG, but that's different. No one's ripping boxes of Reality Fracture out of the hands of children.

I was buying cards for my nephew and it's hard not to resent the grown ass men hoarding cards and pricing kids out of kids toys.

Twice now Google maps has sent me to a narrow back alley when navigating to a restaurant in Japan. This time it was also entirely wrong about which building it is.

People always say to get nail clippers in Japan but I always thought it was silly. How much better could they be??? It turns out significantly better? They're not cheap, like $18, but the first clip had my convinced

I planned my Japan trip too well and I don't get to ride the train very much ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ. No transfers either.

Google maps directions took me to the alley behind a restaurant. The address is fine, but you don't want to go to the alley behind it and the real entrance is a couple minutes walk away. There doesn't seem to be any way to report or correct this kind of issue.

Having a total blast in Japan, but if I had one issue it's not even the lack of garbage cans. It can be hard to find somewhere to sit for a minute.

Japan is really cool. First real day of the trip down and already having a blast. Hit up Tsukiji Market for a tour, which was very good. Annoyingly basically everywhere in the market area says no photos so you'll have to imagine me eating dried squid and Wagyu beef.

After that we visited Hamarikyu Gardens for a nice stroll. We're too early for fall colours but we saw a cool bird. After so much walking it felt nice to just lie down in the park for a bit. Then we visited Ginza for a little bit of shopping, plus I needed a SIM card.

Finally we walked across the Kachidoki Bridge and headed back to the hotel to freshen up a bit and grab dinner. Idk if it's the jet lag or the ton of walking I did but it's 9pm and I'm totally beat. I wanted to go grab a beer but I think I'm just gonna hit the hay.

Went to Coco Ichiban and ordered a spice level 5, out of 20. My rationale was... Well, Japanese food is never really spicy. Even Hot curry blocks from the grocery store are quite mild in my experience... So I was blown away by how spicy my curry was. Barely able to finish it.

The thing that everyone said would happen, happened. I woke up at 5 am in Japan fully rested and wide awake. Ideally I'd just head out on my day early but everything I wanna do is at 8am or later lol.

Yakuza Like a Dragon has incredible tonal whiplash. Seeing a certain cutscene and then popping an achievement called "Soap on a Rope" is really something.

A fun realization I had... I kinda bounced off Yakuza 0 because the button mashy combat didn't resonate. Felt weird to breeze through encounter after encounter. ... Recontextualized with turn based JRPG combat, though? Feels totally fine. Makes sense even haha.

*mashing a button in real time combat* "Not sure about this" *Lazily pressing a button to advance turn based combat* "Now this I like"

I'm not too upset that I missed out on Ghibli museum tickets, they're quite hard to get... But I'm very fucking frustrated that I set my alarm for 24h too late and basically never had a chance. "I probably wouldn't have gotten any anyway" vs "man, I'm dumb"

It's Thanksgiving weekend and if you can you should donate to charity. I gave to my local food bank, Nature Conservancy Canada, and Wikipedia.

Had a nightmare that my wife booked a trip to the North Pole by boat that inexplicably set sail from Ann Arbor MI on some extremely choppy waters and I forgot to pack literally anything. Walking on the little boat with just like, keys phone wallet. What could it mean lol

Posting Twitter screenshots of "bad stuff" feels like that joke about the dude with a piece of dog shit in his hand like "look what I almost stepped in!"

"bad stuff" == racism, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia etc etc etc. From anyone BUT ESPECIALLY a 'nobody'. If you're screenshotting gutter racism from a 30 follower nobody, rethink your actions.

They Lindsay Ellis cruise video really annoyed me. Cruises are not without criticism but taking 7 cruises and acting like you're in hell is pretty gross lol. Let alone that they were all tax write-offs. I normally like her stuff too.

Full disclosure, I've been on 2 cruises in 11 years and have had fun on both. There's a lot of corny shit but idk if you can't have fun in the sun it might be a skill issue lol.

The simple answer to iced coffee interview discourse is, bullshit or not, your interviewer may not like you showing up with a drink in hand. They won't be upset if you DON'T have a coffee with you, lol. Right or wrong I'd save the coffee for a post interview treat tbh.

One weird thing about Internet pessimism/the end of the world/the Omnicrisis etc etc etc. This all consuming and broadly accepted idea that things are bad and only gonna get worse .. Is this really how people want to spend what's left of "the good times"? Arguing on bsky? Lol

"I truly think now is already pretty bad but also as good as it will ever be... And that's why I'm spending 14 hours a day scared, angry, and upset online" If I thought the world was ending I'd at least have a good time until it happened

The stickiness of Spotify is baffling to me. People seem to think that the platform and its owners are bad but are unwilling to spend an hour to move to a different service Idk ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I think everyone was worried their city could be next on 9/11. But my sister and I were utterly convinced that our little town of like 8000 people in Canada was SURELY the next target. Twin Towers Pentagon The Shell refinery in Corunna What else could possibly have been target number #3?

Dude at work spent ten weeks on a three day task and they're not really doing anything about it because he was working, he was just doing a bunch of dumb shit really badly so it's ok? Like that's better than just fucking off hahaha

Rolled credits on Big Walk. An astounding game that asks you to play it on its terms and rewards you for doing so. Everything feels so considered. Worth your time. Also it took us what felt like 5 hours to push 4 buttons because people were using opposite but competing signals

The end bit felt so good too. Everything was hard enough to earn it but not so hard it was a pain in the ass. Everything felt rewarding, nothing felt tedious.
