Come to me tear-stained and withdrawn, and I shall shelter you. Come to me with eyes afire and arms wide open, and I shall embrace you. Come to me solemnly and in silence, and I shall listen to you. Come to me however you are, and I shall love you.

Let me be perfectly clear about this: You have free will in life - but this comes with responsibility Nobody is forcing you to stay in a group chat with rapists. You either remove the rapists, or remove yourself That’s the responsibility which comes with your freedom There were 57 rapists, not 7

Not only am I extremely picky about what can and can’t go on my hamburger - I need the stuff to go in the correct order and correct places or else it doesn’t taste right Mustard, relish and hot peppers on the bottom, beef patty, then pickles, onions, tomato, lettuce with mayo spread on the top bun

Sauces should not be applied directly to the meat Ketchup NEVER goes on, it’s only ever acceptable to use as dipping for french fries when they can’t be doused in vinegar and garnished with salt and pepper Cheese (in particular processed cheese slices) is never permitted under any circumstances

No… I’m not autistic… but I am neurodivergent with several autistic traits. 😂 I am very particular about a great many things. This is just one example

I know this is true. I know this is true. I know this is true. I know this is true. But self-promotion just goes against every fibre of my soul 😭😭😭😭

Something occurred to me today, and I would imagine it’s an unpopular opinion. I am under the weather today, but when people ask (both today and other times in the past) I decline to admit how I feel. At work, I won’t shake hands explaining that I don’t want to pass along germs… but that’s it

Instead… the reaction *again* is “suck it up and be a man” Calling that tentative seeking of intimacy/caring/support when you’re not at your best a “man flu”… a dismissive criticism which implies weakness… only reinforces the concept to never EVER share what you feel inside

All of this because my brain wondered why I work so hard at covering up and hiding any and all signs or symptoms that I might be sick. Or failing that, attempting to make sure other people believe I am not as sick as I actually am This isn’t a speech designed to minimize others. Just… a perspective

No matter how crappy I feel, I don’t take sick days and I just put on a strong face over it all Why? Because I absolutely HATE it when people have thrown around the term “man flu” before And this got me thinking today. Why does this concept really need to exist?

As a man, certain concepts are beaten into you from a young age Including asking for intimacy and support And it occurs to me that there have been times when all I wanted was someone to show they cared about me when I wasn’t feeling my best. Not dead sick, just not at my best.
