If you are on your way to my Dundee show this evening. Stop, turn around, and go home. The show has been rescheduled to March 13, 2027. I am poorly at the moment and unable to do shows for the rest of this month. Nothing serious, but I can't do the Scotland shows this side of Christmas.

I just told Mrs Astro that I love her little quirks. She turned around to me and said, My entire being is a quirk! I don't know if that's an insult or a compliment???

ATTENTION, EVERYBODY IN AND NEAR DUNDEE. The Night Sky Show was due to play at Caird Hall tomorrow evening. Unfortunately, I'm unwell and the show will now play on the 13th of March 2027, with Glasgow Royal Concert Hall the day after. Your tickets are still valid, so see you in March.

Unfortunately, the Night Sky Show at Caird Hall Dundee and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall next week and the week after have been rescheduled to the 13th and 14th of March 2027. I hope the venues have already contacted you if you are a ticket holder. I'll see you in Scotland, then :)

I just rescued a toad in the road. It was going to get run over so I did my best lolly pop lady impression, picked him up and helped him on his way safely. Here's my concern. Did picking him up and the oil/ acid in my skin injury him in any way. Old wives tail @Chrisgpackham ?

Just heard that Michael Palin has unfortunately had to cancel his tour. I've heard he's fallen over in the bathroom and broken some ribs and fractured his pelvis. I really hope he recovers quickly, and we'll see him in the future. Get well soon Michael.

Currently getting my new website and the new shiny app built and ready. As I do, I've just got to double-check with you guys to make sure I'm putting everything in there that you want. let me know if you have any ideas or any likes or dislikes in an app or website.

I missed it earlier because I was doing something important, which led me to not check my computer or phone. It appears there's very strong aurora activity tonight in UK skies. I'm hoping we haven't missed it. I've seen some fabulous pictures all over social media.

This social media feed and all its channels have been neglected as I've been really busy. But that is about to change, so hold on to your potatoes, Dr. Jones. It's going to get wild. You're going to get so much content thrown at you guys. Keep following, get your friends to follow.

I'm not being political, I'll leave that to the people who know what they are talking about. But, if Donald Trump doesn't go soon, he will be the death of all of us. Now I'll just go and stick to Astronomy and worry about the future of humanity.

Very happy! A man came around to service my office chair this morning and I have had nothing but a very comfortable seating experience all day! Just thought I'd share, cos its social media innit...

Working very hard on the new stargazing app. It's going to be awesome! I've checked the competition, added what I wanted, and I've listened to you. with a sprinkle of virtualastro magic. It will be out later in the autumn. I just want to check I'm covering everything. What do you want in it?

Doing the final touches to my new app I must admit I’m blown away by it. It will be the best astronomy app available and that’s not marketing hype! No corners cut, no expense spared. The best of everything. What do you want from a stargazing app?

App News: Nearly finished building my new everything Stargazing app (name to follow) It will be a paid app with a small yearly/ monthly subscription. Not expensive! There may be a cut back version of it with ads on the website, but the flagship app with all the toys will you occupied for years.

NO! America does not own the Moon nor will they ever do so. There are international treaties such as The Outer Space Treaty (1967) and The Moon Agreement (1979) The Moon Agreement explicitly states that the Moon and its resources are the "common heritage of mankind".

ATTENTION STARGAZERS AND LOVERS OF THE NIGHT SKY IN AND NEAR STOKE The Night Sky Show is coming to Stoke on 13 September and we are going to have an amazing time. We will we laugh, learn and gasp at the heavens above, brought down to Earth for everyone to enjoy. Book Here: www.nightskyshow.co.uk

It's nice to see rain again after the longest dry and hot period recorded in the UK. I enjoy it being warm and dry, but I also enjoy the fine balance of nature and life on this planet. A lot of humans find climate change hard but nature finds it harder.

Did you just see that massive orange fireball going East to South East a few moments ago? Absolutely awesome! It would have made a dinosaur very nervous. Keep looking up! #meteorwatch

Today’s the day. 🌒 Eclipse this evening — from ~6.10pm, max ~7.10pm. Deepest since 1999. ☄️ Perseids peak tonight — no Moon at all. Same Moon doing both. Eclipse glasses ready. Chair ready. Look west. #eclipse2026 #meteorwatch

I say this in my show and I will say it you you now. Do not look directly at the sun with your naked eyes, telescope or anything like that. Even at maximum eclipse at over 90% Moon coverage, the sun will still damage your eyes. Permanently! NEVER LOOK DIRE`CTLY AT THE SUN! EVE DURING THE ECLIPSE

Eclipse tomorrow evening. UK times (BST): Edinburgh 6.08 / max 7.05 Manchester 6.13 / max 7.10 Birmingham 6.15 / max 7.11 London 6.17 / max 7.12 Cornwall 6.18 / max 7.16 Sun is LOW in the west. #eclipse2026 NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN! Book tickets for The Night Sky Show www.nightskyshow.co.uk

I'd just like to say. If you have Autism, there is nothing wrong with you. You are wonderful and they say the next step on the evolutionary ladder. The most clever people in the world are autistic. You have superpowers and never let anyone tell you differently. You are amazing!

Eclipse in 2 days. One rule matters more than all the rest: Never look at the Sun. Not once. Not through sunglasses. Even 90% covered, what’s left will damage your eyes. Safe: ISO 12312-2 glasses, or a pinhole projector. #eclipse2026 Find out more at my show www.nightskyshow.co.uk

I was in my garden this evening watering my last few living plants with a watering can and I felt a tap on my leg. It was a blackbird asking for a drink. It was desperate, so I obliged and will every day. What have we done! Shame on all of us!

That streak of light is a piece of a comet. Mostly grit — smaller than a peanut. But it hits the air at 59 km a second, and that’s enough to make it glow white hot 100km above your garden. Something older than our species, ending in a flash above your head. #meteorwatch www.nighskyshow.co.uk

How to watch a meteor shower, complete guide: 1. Lie down. Don’t stand — you’ll last 15 minutes. 2. Wrap up warmer than you think. 3. Look UP. Any direction. It doesn’t matter. 4. Phone away. Screen light kills night vision. 5. Give it an hour. That’s the lot. #meteorwatch www.nightskyshow.co.uk

So I need to borrow your eyes and see what you all think? Which one of these two images which are used in the posters for my new show - The Night Sky Show - A Sky Full of Hope, you you prefer? A. The blue one with meteors over the planet. B. The gold planet and stars. Please let me know.

You don’t have to wait for the 12th. The Perseids are already running. Clear sky this weekend? Go out for an hour after dark. Fewer meteors than peak night — but no crowds, no pressure, and it’s good practice. #meteorwatch Book tickets to see more at The Night Sky Show www.nightskyshow.co.uk

The most common thing people say to me about meteor showers: “I haven’t got a telescope.” Good. Don’t use one. It narrows your view to a keyhole. Your eyes take in half the sky at once. That is exactly the right tool. #meteorwatch This and more at the nightskyshow.co.uk

One week today, something rather special happens. On 12 August the Moon passes in front of the Sun and gives the UK its deepest eclipse since 1999. Then that same Moon leaves the sky completely dark — right as the Perseids peak. Same Moon. Two shows. One day. #meteorwatch www.nightskyshow.co.uk
