It's been a while since I've reviewed a video game book on my "JonLeung1" YouTube channel! Here's my review of @vgmuseum.bsky.social's "NES Endings Compendium - Vol. 2: 1990", a book that showcases the endings of the Nintendo Entertainment System games of 1990!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Fw...

For VGMaps.com: The Video Game Atlas, @darklordzagato.bsky.social submitted Chubby Cherub, (Capcom's) Gold Medal Challenge '92, and Puss N Boots: Pero's Great Adventure today. Now there are only 101 official North American NES games left to map! 😀 bsky.app/profile/vgma...

Halloween post #26: Speaking of Super NES secrets, here's one accessible at the beginning of a game, rather than the end! In The Addams Family, there are hidden rooms, starting with an invisible door in the lower-left of the Hall Of Stairs, full of power-ups, money, and 1ups!

Halloween post #25: Speaking of Castlevania tricks, here's one for Super Castlevania IV (Super NES). Jump down before the stairs that lead to Dracula to find invisible platforms, and down here, power-ups will rain on you, so you'll be more ready for the final confrontation!

Halloween post #24: Speaking of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES), as cool as the game is (I think so, anyway), the bosses aren't that challenging. Death can be defeated with a single bulb of garlic, as seen here:

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3! Super Mario Bros. 3 was mapped as a multi-mapper project on VGMaps.com: The Video Game Atlas. It can be challenging to collaborate as a group, but I think we did okay! See the maps here: vgmaps.com/Atlas/NES/in...

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3! In the Canadian manual, French is below, English is on top. Rather than copy and paste, Morton's name is misspelled "Montron" in Canadian English (not French), ironic since it sounds like Montréal, the most-known French-Canadian city!

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3! Before switching from bimonthly to monthly, Nintendo Power dedicated one of its four "Strategy Guide" issues to Super Mario Bros. 3. Don't you just love the original artwork that guides used to have, before it became all in-game assets?

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3! Don't you love the illustrations in the manual?

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3! As it was the best-selling (non-pack-in) console game for a while, you know this tester had their work cut out for them...

Happy 38th birthday to Super Mario Bros. 3 (based on Japanese release, but it's already tomorrow there; oops)! I have the Famicom version & three NTSC NES versions: "Left Bros.", "Right Bros.", and Canadian/red banner. Always amuses me that I got the "Left Bros." from "Two Brothers Games" on eBay!

Build it taller, break it smaller, step on it harder, makes us stronger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5rw...

Randomly thought about antipodes, which are opposite sides of Earth. I noticed that New Zealand and Spain are antipodes. New Zealand has hobbits, Spain has Vega (Street Fighter). Vega's name in Japan is "Balrog". For hobbits to face Balrog, they'd have to pass through the MIDDLE of EARTH. WHOA...?😯

Happy 15th anniversary to the very first Nintendo Direct, where Reggie Fils-Aime asks "what's wrong with you?" if you don't have a 3DS.

Albertans used common sense, came out to vote, and resisted foreign interference. Three things that Americans ought to be doing too.

In Alberta, there is still a horde of angry, smooth-brained rednecks on the verge of exploding. After losing the referendum vote, they're going to come up with excuses and complain MORE, probably not happy with Danielle Smith. As they say, "cope harder". bsky.app/profile/vgma...

Alberta voted to stay in Canada! But the other nine questions, about immigrants and reducing federal control, I'm surprised at all the "YES" votes... so much for the "NO to the NINE" campaign. results.elections.ab.ca/8400 Alberta's still Canadian, but still wary of immigrants... 🤦

Halloween post #20: Is it neat or freaky to have a mirror smashable into space in both Shadowgate (NES) and Beyond Shadowgate (PC)? I always thought this was a cool thing to keep between both games. The purple planet is a reference to "Infested", another game by GrahfMetal.

Alberta separatists and Maple MAGA should practice this system:

Hmm, I thought I'd see some angry Alberta separatists respond to this. Maybe for the best, if they keep their mouths shut. Hoping to see them lose when the votes are all counted! Preferably by a lot. I'll be going to vote today. No to the Nine! Vote Option #1!

Some people are so thin-skinned. I said I enjoyed the Street Fighter movie and somebody blocked me over that. Me enjoying a film is not an affront to you if you dislike it, which you are just as allowed to do. Do you also block people if they have a different favourite colour?

Halloween post #19: Okay, I've posted a lot of Maniac Mansion in recent days, time to segue away from it... In Beyond Shadowgate (2024), the true sequel to the NES classic Shadowgate, there is a purple tentacle and a textual reference to Maniac Mansion in Themeire Mansion.
