I was wondering how the Italian "si figuri," the equivalent of the English "don't mention it," came to mean what it does, and today it dawned on me: shapes itself, in other words, no need to validate it. #SHACL jokes #ISWC cc @giorgialodi.bsky.social

Second day of ISWC in Bari. My session yesterday was part of the Façade-X tutorial. I talked about the use of Façade-X for automatic data catalog generation and for solving duplication issues (unavoidable with RML) The slides: kvistgaard.github.io/slides/ppds/...

At the ISWC in Bari, watching a paper presented at the 3rd workshop on KG and Neurosymbolic AI. A slide showing the number of errors across different approaches, and, not surprisingly, the SPARQL-based one wins.

[[Sofia]] has reliable and affordable public transport, better than in many other EU capitals. Yet people prefer to sit in traffic jams, pollute, and fight for a parking spot rather than use it. Bizarre!

I've been dreaming about such a restriction for over a decade. EU countries take note. But why only music and videos? Outlaw also talking with a speaker on in public places. It's disgusting!

Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a campaign against listening to music or videos without headphones on public transportation. London commuters weighed in on those plans. trib.al/dW7NL6Y

Now TextFold is integrated into my local library, so the 5 zoom levels are a click away for any doc

Studying my decision graph, I see two strange circles, looking like alien footprints. (well, "foot" is an anthropocentric assumption, but you know what I mean)

When I publish a new essay, I announce it using Buffer. The same post goes to several social media. On X-Twitter, I have almost 5 times as many followers as on Bluesky but get twice as little traffic, for 2y now. The short explanation is the enshittification of X-Twitter. What is the long one?

The fastest way to put down the dirty virtual is, well, physical.

The cloud isn't there for the rain; it's more for drama and to enhance contrast, brother-in-vanity.

Higher than usual interest in my latest Substack article.

Programming used to be like literacy. Once you learned it, nobody could take it away. Now the craft comes on lease, metered, and on terms that can change overnight. This essay looks at seven orders of software makers, defined by what the lease did to them. www.linkandth.ink/p/the-new-co...

any sufficiently advanced OS will increasingly lock down its APIs until it becomes indistinguishable from a browser

When the tourists are mostly gone, there are plenty of good spots available.

Fair offer for a boat trip. I wish LLM services could offer something similar: "100% correct answer or your money back." In fact, it should be "money back doubled". With the boat, it's still a boat trip even without dolphins.

Credit for the multi-pane design goes to @andymatuschak.org . When I saw this UX in 2020, I thought it was already cool for wikilinks/backlings browsing (digital gardens and suchlike), but just imagine what it would do for RDF graphs

Opsis is a one-file faceted browser for [[RDF]] graphs. Every click is a SPARQL query. Fully data-centric. Even its settings are part of the graph. I'm using it daily to browse my local personal knowledge graph. Now it's available for everyone to use. #SPARQL #PKG github.com/kvistgaard/o...

While the research and analysis tracks have been progressing modestly but steadily for a year, the situation with software is different: an SOS (summer of software).
