You can put DaVinci's Optimized Media Folder in your anti-virus exclusion for significantly improved optimized media generation speeds. Reason is that Optimized Media is about 100 000 files per 1h of footage, so there is an overhead from AV intercepting file creation.

Ref Callbacks got an upgrade with React 19, and the presence of the React Compiler has further changed my thinking about using useCallback for those in some situations. tkdodo.eu/blog/ref-cal... Thank you @gsathya.bsky.social for starting the discussion about this ๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Hadn't played with iterators before, didn't realize there is a convenient Iterator.prototype.toArray() method. Usually, I would consume iterators in a for..of loops, so it's rare to need to think about unrolling one directly.

So, this is the .toArray solution vs converting to for...of. I probably strictly prefer the for-of version, and don't expect that there is any maningful performance difference.

On the Apollo Client side, adjusting our tests to work with the React 19 RC 1, but also still run fine with React 18 and React 17 took about a week and a massive PR: github.com/apollographq... Test your stuff now before it becomes stressful later. This is the right time to try these RCs!

I was working on an episode for my course and used the following command: pnpm add -D @monorepo/config@workspace:^ It made me realize I need to add another lesson beforehand just to explain the 5 different concepts in that 1 line.

Until I moved to Bluesky, I always called X it's old name - Twitter. But now that I'm here, the other site has become X dot com in my mind. It took me moving here to finally abandon the idea of the original Twitter returning. Feeling a little melancholic.

You really need to review the code generated by Claude 3.5 Sonnet carefully, mistakes all over the place even for a simple refactoring ๐Ÿฅฒ

Also, give me good meal prep ideas! Need to make tasty and high protein food for work and stop ordering all the time. Have stove and freezer at work, if that matters.

I moved here as part of the tech exhodus. Tech discussions here both surface much easier in the algo, and are generally better. My guess is that because toxicity is much lower here, people just come with a better disposition. I like it here.

This is going to move the ecosystem forward tremendously!

Aaaand it seems we have the green light to unflag require(esm) to 20.x! (assuming things go well in v22.x first and we can backport it properly to the ooold v20.x branch ๐Ÿฅน)

This mimics my experience. Twitter is kinda good for shitposts, and there are a few niche communities which haven't made the switch. However, bluesky feels much better for engineering discussions already. We may have reached a tipping point?

Many such cases - and I increasingly feel the same way. Twitter is becoming a mainstream "TikTok-like" space, where my feed is overwhelmed with politics, memes and what feels like "engagement bait" - from accounts I do not follow. Bluesky feels like where I get to engage with the dev community.

I've looked at syncpack for managing monorepo dependencies, but every time I try to apply it to a complex monorepo I end up needing to write a ton of custom config. Instead I've been using manypkg github.com/Thinkmill/ma... and it has been a breeze. Working on some improvements for it soon!
