Much of the intl reporting on the French protests has been doing my head in. Especially the Australian tendency to miss the point. So I was glad to write about what I saw firsthand at Place de la République last weekend. And have my photo published, too. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/2026/10...

thesaturdaypaper.com.auOn the frontline at the Paris protestsThe visceral anger evident in the widespread looting and destruction across France last week came as a shock even to a country with a long history of violent protest.

When did humanity become a partisan issue? Life's too short. We have got to stop this crap in parliament and remove parliamentary privilege, racism is racism, no matter where you are. Sort out the misogyny while we are there.

Message to Australia’s media. If a man kills his wife and / or children, If a man rapes a woman or child, If a man attempts to murder or disfigure a woman or child, If a man drives a car into a female politician, WE DO NOT CARE IF HE WAS A ‘NICE’ BLOKE. WE DO NOT CARE IF HE PLAYED SPORT..

You know things are very broken when, fascists march openly, whilst aged pensioners protesting against genocide are man handled and arrested. #England #UK Worse still is watching it unfold across nations who 3 generations b4 fought against fascism, then faced horrors of genocide fascism did

The games played by the old Coalition are so blatant here. The new further Right coalition will be worse. MAGA politics is all support for the predator capitalists that exploit government settings. That is the kind of exploitation that has made the Plymouth Brethren 💵💵💵 LNP loves them back #auspol

Libs & Nats desperately try & block Corinne Mulholland’s questions to Plymouth Brethren leader Bruce Hales over his MAGA-inspired "Make Australia Smile Again" campaign Chair Jerome Laxale forced to call it out, reminds McKenzie she’s not even a committee member, please shut up.

I heard recently that WA Liberals have to get the Catholics in one section of Perth and the Happy Clappers in another section of Perth to make things happen. Is this stacked branches there too? #Auspol

Lucy Hamilton@lucyham.bsky.social

Ben Small, who seems to be trying to provide cover for the Plymouth Brethren here, is a Liberal politician for WA. The Plymouth Brethren worked hard to get the Libs into government. Charge all the taxes they’ve been exempted from, retrospectively. #Auspol

Reportedly so billionaires and a trillionaire who want to be immortal. All whilst making it so very clear why, it’s VERY clear why this would be a VERY bad idea.

Australia’s former national carrier has been flogging rural and regional Australia, Elon Musk’s Sky Nazi satellite 🛰️ as NBN. Turns out Australia wasn’t listening to the warnings. Perhaps take a pause and look at what he’s done for Russia. His ego and greed is paid now with blood of Ukrainian

Is this REALLY who Australia is now? Shocked. Horrified. Disgusted. 1. When hate and calls for violence and murder, becomes so mainstream, it’s spewed out as just another day in Parliament; THEN it becomes an act AGAINST national security and safety. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

abc.net.auAnne Aly accuses Liberal MP of racism after 'stoning' commentThe Labor frontbencher says she has received 19 death threats this week alone while calling out Angie Bell's remarks in a social media post.

2. It’s at this point it stops being ‘freespeech’ because this is where NO ONE is safe anymore. And that is not freedom. This one example goes even further though….

3. In a world of rapidly rising toxic masculinity, women losing their basic human rights includng bodily autonomy; when 39% of Australian women experience violenc by the time they are 15yo -we have an Australian Parliamentarian using Parliamentary privileges to peddle a call to violence !

Does anyone know: Is there a product like the old Game Boy and game cartridges which don’t have internet capability ? Also an anything like iPod nano, or similar which doesn’t connect NOT have Wifi etc ? We are a house home which chose to disconnect.

This shows just how extreme the US is. Livestreaming an execution by firing squad is the behaviour of a bloodthirsty dictator. Yet the Albanese Government is tying us closer and closer to the Trump regime.

Are you anti abortion? Anti LGBTQI ? Hate migrants? Hate Muslims? Believe women are a subspecies to men? Congratulations. The billionaires, fascists, authorisations, fossil fuel industry, mining, tech bros are playing you. It’s called, ‘Divide et Impera’. It’s been used since Alexander the Great

Every anti-trans attack is a repeat of the homophobic attacks of the 1960s,70,80s. Every transphobe is a bigot. I have also yet to see a transphobe who is not also racist. The media's coverage of trans hate has been used to make all kinds of bigotry acceptable

Rental laws are absolute BS that are geared to benefit landlords and steal more $$$ from renters. A family member has managed to buy a house (yay!!!) but has to break their lease. They just received an email specifying they basically have to prop up the landlord until they can find a new tenant.

'Power is its own constituency. It exists to protect itself.' Authoritarianism sounds scary, but it arrives bit by bit. We're already doing the work for some grim future. Will be talking about this and more at Sydney Opera House's Curious program this Sunday. www.crikey.com.au/2026/09/28/r...

I would rather see a passenger rail network across #Tasmania, light rail in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport - including to SPOT and Airports. I’d rather see an integrated, properly funded and public owned transport system and social housing than Data Centres and completely unnecessary AFL stadium

Good to see the sector giving due attention to the cost of studying and living for young Australians and international students. No student should live in poverty while studying or be burdened with debt for life when they graduate.
