One of the most prominent symbols of The Elder Scrolls series can now have an article naming it. ...And because nothing can ever be simple, another piece of merchandise has referred to it as the "Seal of Akatosh"...

The phrase "Imperial Dragon" has been used before, but never directly in reference to this symbol to my knowledge. If you are aware of an explicit reference that we missed, I would love to have an additional reference for its name. You can see our article here: en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Imperial_Dragon

It is seen all over the place, there is even text discussing it (for example, PGE1 informs us the symbol comes from the red dragons slave mounts used by the Akaviri, and there are other references to the dragon's appearance on banners for example).

Thankfully, a UESP editor has succeeded at finding an official name for this, a hat from the official Bethesda Gear Store referred to it as the "Imperial Dragon". That's a term we and many others have certainly used before, but now we can finally point to an official recording of its name.

One prominent example of this, from my own personal attempts to find an answer for this, is that the most common symbol of the Empire has no actual name in the series. Checking books, dialogue, scripts, asset files, even the US Patent and Trademark Office failed to turn up a name.
