Time for me to finally go over what I found so far on Japanese Tape #3. The tape looks to be recorded some time around December 1998.

spelunkr.tvSPELUNKR — Cable TV, but weirder24/7 synchronized channels of forgotten Internet Archive video. Like cable TV, but weirder.

I've been watching this grow since Sunday night, and guys if you're looking for a throwback to 90s and 2000s cable with access to the Internet Archive library this is it! spelunkr.tv?home

They've recently added a Hanna-Barbera channel with HB content running 24/7 and have plans to release a G4 style channel and a Japanese game show channel.

Got through the end of my new batch of tapes, the rest if luckily Japanese shows (some subtitled even!) and an Nippon TV airing of My Neighbor Totoro! I also found out that my one tape was a rip of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds from its official tape.

Additionally I tried to figure out where Castle in the Sky was buried within the tapes and whether or not it was a tape rip or a Nippon TV airing (Man if it was, I would have hoped it would have been one of the missing airings not archived!). Found out it's a tape rip as well!

I'm digitally transferring Super Bowl 31 off of a recorded VHS tape for a co-worker who wants to do a nostalgia night for her roommates. I hope my laptop can hold the entire game.

I got all 4-ish hours of the game with commercials!

Post something random or you'll have an awful September.

Just got thru my first viewing of 'Coyote V.S. Acme' and holy shit this was a fun movie! I loved seeing some of the lesser known Looney Tunes characters getting cameos here and there like 8-Ball and Cool Cat. Welp it's almost time for screening #2.

28 Aug

Playboy Penguin not 8-Ball, I confused the short title with the character's name.

So after two screenings, I can definitely say that 'Coyote V.S. Acme' might be my favorite film of the year! This felt like a spiritual successor to 'Who Framed Rodger Rabbit' and 'Looney Tunes: Back in Action'. Between all of the easter eggs and cameos, this is definitely a must watch for any fan.

On my way to go see #CoyoteVSAcme I've been waiting for this one, might be my Film of the Year for 2026!

I'm seeing this twice too today!

A Merrill Lynch commercial popped up with Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs starring in it. WTF!?! (Full disclosure, I tried to find the commercial on YouTube to throw a link for this post, but surprisingly it's not on there!)

After that there was a quick blip of the next show following the special called 'Highlights of the New Year's Holiday -Education Special- then after that we blipped into the beginning of a then long running TBS drama series called 'Wateru Seken wa Oni Bakari".

This series ran for 502 Episodes over 21 years, split into 10 seasons. 1990 to 2011. Based on the commercials that aired with this episode, I place that this aired sometime around the 4th Season of the show. It was Episode 13 of that season.

The first thing that came on was an NHK new years special from that year covering local hot springs. It weirdly ended with a family bringing their baby to the hot springs; to... I want to say 'baptize' them.

For this week's #RandomGameSaturday I've been on a recent Lupin the 3rd kick recently after re-watching "The Castle of Cagliostro" so here's most of the "Lupin the 3rd" games I currently have in my collection! ('Treasure of the Monkey King' is in storage at the moment.)

25 July

By the way, FUN FACT! Pandora's Legacy on the Famicom was made as a pseudo-sequel to 'The Castle of Cagliostro' as the game centers around Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon having to traverse around the world to save a kidnapped Clarisse.

17 July

Just rewatching some classic Pop Up Video clips and saw this pop up on the music video for R.E.M. "End of the World As We Know It". Holy fuck talk about a Nostradamus!

So, I gave into the temptation... Luckily I bought it used, but still a part of me feels unclean given my thoughts on this system and Nintendo in general right now. I've already decided that any games or accessories that I get for this system, will be pre-owned and used from Mercari.

#RandomGameSaturday I got these about a week or so ago, but I forgot to present them for last week's RGS. Now I'm one game away from wrapping up all of the Star Fox games that came out (pre-2026). All I need is Star Fox 64 3D.

Catching a 45th Anniversary screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark, I was surprised to see this in the showtime listings for my local theater. I didn't see a single advertisement for this!

I was also surprised that it was a nearly full house for the movie! Overall though I had a great time, it was amazing to see another '80s classic on the big screen!

That recent Direct, got me excited for only 4 games... 4!!! Outside of that if I see what the Ocarina of Time remake fully looks like then Nintendo may finally push me into getting a Switch 2, much against my wishes. Seriously Nintendo Switch Sports Resort being a Switch 2 exclusive fucking hell!
