Today, the government shared their spending plans. The Chancellor said reforms are coming to support more young people into work. But how much do you know about the role of our social security system for young people right now? Test your knowledge: https://sbrew.link/37gsH7Rt

These are the questions we’ll be asking ourselves following the Autumn Budget later this week, to figure out if the government’s plans deliver on Andy Burnham’s promises to help us live well. 🔗 Join to stop the stigma and fix the system https://sbrew.link/UlApBtRy

Tomorrow we are putting your knowledge to the test. We’re back from the Labour Party Conference, and Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he wants to change the way the social security system supports young people. How much do you know about the support available for young people? Check back tomorrow!

We are heading to the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. With Andy Burnham making promises since becoming Prime Minister, here is what we are asking ourselves over the weekend to help us decide if he is keeping those promises! Check back next week to see what we find out!

Our Thriving Futures Fund has won Impactful Grant of the Year at the ACO Annual Awards 2026. Built with people in Edinburgh, not just for them. Flexible funding, long-term support, and £500 into savings each year. Thank you to our partners and everyone who shaped it. #ACOAwards2026

The future prosperity of our country depends on more people having a decent chance now. It relies on our social security system providing young people with the financial stability and personalised support they need to thrive. It’s time for the government to invest in a better future for all of us.

🔎 New report out! Growing up in poverty increases the likelihood of being NEET - not in employment, education or training - as a young adult, and inadequate income holds young people back from returning to earning or learning.

Trying to bring more lived experience into your influencing work? Our Co-Production Partners helped create an immersive Jobcentre experience for MPs and are now reflecting on their role in influencing and why putting lived experience front and centre is essential. www.turn2us.org.uk/about-us/new...

Believe it or not, the rate of Universal Credit has never been set based on the actual cost of life’s essentials. It’s time for that to change. Our health and wellbeing, independence, ability to work is all dependent on us being able to afford to buy food, pay our bills and travel when we need to.

Last month we took the Jobcentre to Parliament and MPs experienced what the current Jobcentre is like and what it could be like if it was built on dignity and respect. Turn2us Campaign Manager, Vicky, has written all about our learnings in the blog below: www.turn2us.org.uk/about-us/new...

Do we need to be more innovative to change minds in parliament? Research and reports give MPs one part of the picture, but they fall short when it comes to MPs understanding what it really feels like for the people behind the statistics. 1/3 www.turn2us.org.uk/about-us/new...

We’re looking for people who would be willing to share their honest experiences of going to the Jobcentre. We’re campaigning for the DWP to make sure Jobcentres lead with trust, not suspicion. If you’re interested in sharing your story, please fill out our form turn2us.beaconforms.com/form/73c17cd8

If we could say one thing to Andy Burnham, it would be this… 🟠You must build trust in our social security system.🟠 To truly support us all to live independently, we need to trust that the system will be there for us when we need it... 🧵1/3

And to get it right, the government must work with people who have used the system and understand what needs to change. Join our campaign today to be part of the movement for a social security system we can all be proud of. act.turn2us.org.uk/page/183975/...

Excellent to see the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty and Inequality report launched yesterday, highlighting evidence from our stigma research and conversations with young people. The report rightly sets out that: Read below - 🧵1/5

- DWP sanctions should only be applied to people under 25 as a genuine last resort - Benefit levels should be increased to at least cover people’s essentials - Ensure that the social security system is dignity-focused and rights compliant, guaranteeing essential income and embedding fairness 🧵-4/5

Excellent to see the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty and Inequality report launched yesterday, highlighting evidence from our stigma research and conversations with young people. The report rightly sets out that: Read below - 🧵1/5

- Many young people are effectively hidden from the system because they are not claiming the social security support they are entitled to. - Current Jobcentre and employment support can lead to increasing mental health problems. - Sanctions fail at supporting more young people into work. 🧵 - 2/5

Our research with Bristol University found that stigma embedded throughout the system acts as a fundamental barrier to accessing support, undermining people’s financial security and wellbeing.  We welcome the recommendations in the report, particularly: 🧵 - 3/5

The Timms Review interim report shows that over 90% of the evidence they received describes negative PIP experiences. Many disabled people find PIP unfair and inconsistent. And that means people don’t trust that it will be there for them when they need it. www.turn2us.org.uk/about-us/new... 1/2 ⬇️

We brought the Jobcentre to Parliament. MPs stepped into experiences produced and delivered with people with lived experience. They saw the reality people face every day and what’s possible when Jobcentres lead with trust, not suspicion. Together, we can stop the stigma and fix the system.

Today we brought the Jobcentre into Parliament. MPs went through an actor-led experience of the system as it is now, and as it could be, then heard directly from the people who’ve lived it. A Jobcentre built on dignity, not suspicion, is possible. #StopTheStigma #FixTheSystem

Our Co-Production Partners shaped every moment of what MPs saw today. Their experiences are the reason we’re calling for trust, time and support over tick-boxes and sanctions. Thank you to every MP who showed up to listen.

Tuesday 23rd, tomorrow, we take our Jobcentre experience to parliament for MPs. But why? 🟠To bring people’s experiences of the Jobcentre to life for MPs 🟠To encourage MPs to take action to build trust in the Jobcentre 🟠To support MPs to talk positively about the role of the Jobcentre

Just 2 days until we take our jobcentre experience to parliament. "A positive experience at the Jobcentre left me feeling empowered and confident in my abilities...” Thanks to our Co-Production Partners like Julie, we have been able to create a realistic Jobcentre event based on their experiences.

Only 3 days until our Jobcentre experience in Parliament. So, this is your last chance to invite your MP. Make sure your MP represents you by attending our Jobcentre experience, where actors will show how a jobcentre should lead with dignity and respect. 🔗https://sbrew.link/QWycSWes
