I'm here mostly because every community I'm a part of moved here. My actual posts are on my fediverse profile, but I might talk about Kusogrande/BBG/Stream stuff here and will reply if poked. 💛

Desperately trying to stop getting tired at 7pm because this 7p-2a sleeping schedule is not good for doing much of anything. I haven't streamed in a month and frankly I needed to not because of all the other stressors, but they're over.

Making being disenfranchised out to be the fault of the disenfranchised is one of the most boring, base evils humanity has invented. What we, the disenfranchised, do in this position is going to be personalized and twinged by despair and anger. The work is not turning that anger against each other.

I say this because personally/anecdotally the stuff I've seen him say has ended up with like a 66% miss rate where some screenshot from an A/B test or blog post turned out to be taken entirely out of context. Probably for clicks. Not even really talking about THIS TIME per se; just in general.

AI gamedev discourse is so weird to me "Forced disclosure ruins sales" Then consumers consider it bad. "It's a couple noisy outliers" Then your bottom line shouldn't be impacted? "You have to use it or you'll be left behind" You admitted using it hurts your bottom line tho :/ Cult behavior.

Point is either "It's a few outliers" and you should just keep doing what you're doing, or it's everyone and you should stop doing it. You can't claim both to get people to JUST shut up about it.

Oh yeah! I got my 3mo supply of meds yesterday so the literal week-by-week "Am I going to get my tiny pittance of meds this week or are they going to screw me AGAIN" drama is over til like... January. What a load off my brain.

Every now and then I need a "Jolteon, this is main" moment. It's a warding circle against people who wouldn't like me anyway if they had more than a surface glance in 300 bytes at a time of who I am.

Every time I think about the asinine puritanicalism of platforms, I start considering again doing a cammed racing stream in my sim rig, but I'm wearing my kink gear and calling it a racing suit. Just to see how long before someone figures it out and suspends me.

The change that made the new profile system block links to onlyfans and whatnot was just hardcoded into bsky's codebase. How ridiculous: github.com/bluesky-soci... They rolled it back at the mo. Scuttlebutt is it's a "This needs more time in the oven" revert, not recognition they Fucked Up. Blah.

"How do folk fall for that twitch DMCA scam?" I see people ask. I dunno. Why would people think that an email out of nowhere about the big scary thing might be from the org that set up the big scary system that just reaches down and tells you its decision with no involvement or recourse or warning?

When you set up scary, arbitrary systems with no transparency or ability to communicate back to that system, where your only interaction with it is when it decides to strike you? You create a big shadowy gap bad actors can hide in, and then that gap becomes SCARY and empowers those actors even more

Everyone absolutely needs scam literacy and the circuit breaker in their brain that pops and goes "Stop. Evaluate, then panic" and has for years, but this is a learned skill and it getting someone who has that circuit fail to pop is NOT the fault of the victim.

lmao someone who thought they just found another PoC vector for php2shell probably found another variant that was not patched by 8.5.12. What a god damn day. I am not providing links, an embargo is likely coming.

The PHP vuln covers every version of PHP back to the same quarter of 2012 the "Fractal of Bad Design" article happened. Oddly poetic. Anyway the people just shutting their web servers off til they can patch PHP are not wrong to do so. Nextcloud I think may be the biggest risk surface.

It grimly amuses the crap out of me that I had the idea for the Bizhawk shuffler and even showed a proof of concept video ages ago, but couldn't figure out how to handle input disruptions during swaps And someone else just went "it's a feature" and made their own version and it took off. Ah well :P

When I got all the STUFF in my head about altstream out in that giant blog post I mentioned they didn't know SRS was leaning into AI yeah? They switched backends. Which is pretty impressive to just go "Oh that's slop, welp, yeet" I might see about moving my stuff to what they chose too actually

My vision for a streaming world that sucks less is about 40 sites like Altstream that all negotiate a common protocol for federating live-status data and passing raids around. Then the global discovery is a communal project. So if this sticks but is limited to, say, 50 streamers? Go from there.

"But what about all the monetization and features and stuff!" Yeah it wouldn't have that. It would select against growth and finance oriented streamers. Not because I hate them but because as a platform nothing like this can really give them what they need.

Anyway, I was negative about it out of the gate mostly because of the AI stuff and the Big Concerns it would die at like... 7 streamers. But demanding every alternative be completely ready to fight Twitch from day one (or EVER) is why we keep losing alternatives. That's not sustainable in any way.

We are aware of the AI slopjob patch released today! We're very close to finishing the real deal, so if you want to play a *proper* translation, with *proper* art and *proper* coding, just give us a few more days, folks 😎

Please ignore the MTL release of Meremanoid that came out today. We have had a hearty band at work (Chapu, Popi, Mr. Nobody, Misty, Shentok and I) working hard on an all-human patch. Fully playable in English, in it final editing pass now. Popi provided these screencaps today. More news later.

Thinking about ASFF again... I feel like I haven't done enough to prepare it for RPG Limit Break because I haven't completely torn the game apart, know the stats of every ability, and can step route the entire game. That's just not how I speedrun but it means my run is probably not marathon quality

This is how Live A Live went. I made a damn good route that found a ton of new tech and used every tool I had available to me, but I was destroyed the first time someone cracked open a RAM editor and manipulated turn orders and made a steproute. I was okay with that; but I didn't do All I Could.

I got my meds. Almost didn't. I got transferred to another pharmacy because mine was out of stock, and THEY restarted the 5+ day process of scratching their ass and not billing my insurance. Until this enby-creature pharmacist at the other shop SHOVED the desk clerk out of the way and handled it.

How many different ways can your process of getting your meds get screwed up before it's reasonable to bubble "Someone in the pharmacy is doing this to me on purpose" up to the top of your investigation stack? Because I am now on day 9 of "Your refill is delayed call us" and missing doses.

To answer the question I ALWAYS get asked: No this is not a controlled substance. This is inexcusable even if it WAS. Don't ask that question I'm sick of being asked that. "Well yeah if it was adderall this hell you're going through is justified" -- fuck you if you think that.

I'm swapping pharmacies after this no matter what but now they're stringing me along day-by-day with "We're out of stock, but more is coming tomorrow" and we're on day 3 of *that* with a different excuse each day. I shoulda just swapped 3 days ago I know but sunk cost and shite.

I've been on this med for 4mo and I've NEVER had a clean refill I can just pick up. I had a fucking PATIENT ADVOCATE fight them last refill, and now instead of "Insurance says no", there's just nothing. I get shrugs when I ask WTF is going on "We don't log reasons for fill failures" bullshit.

First it was "Every refill is kicking out a prior auth" then it was "The system says give you 2wk refills not 4wk" then it was "We're having stocking problems" and now it's "When you said you needed an urgent refill you didn't say ACTUALLY DOUBLE-PLUS URGENT so we didn't file it as urgent!"

I won't ever tire of someone reminding me that building my own simpler hosted-service answer to NodeCG and RTMP servers for marathons has actually resulted in cool stuff already and will for some time to come yet. It was, arguably, stupid to do. Who would want that? Turns out, quite some people.

Something I think only huge events have done in the past: BBG's French restream used the same stream exhaust and broadcast graphic generator during their live portion. They didn't have to re-stream off Twitch. They got the source video exactly the same way we pushed it ourselves. That was cool.

You can tell because if you open a VOD of the setups, they're playing different music on the EN and FR streams. Because playlist shuffling is done client side. Hah.

TCRF's stance of "No AI on our wiki, no AI using our data" is not unreasonable no matter how much a small creche of people who sold to the slop mill say it is. Slop produces shitty workalikes of what people claim they made, and the details are paramount in preservation, recomp, and fan translation.

and the argument always goes the same way: "Well you lost my input entirely then, good job" That's on you, fictional man who is absolutely not someone specific. "We" didn't "Lose" your input. You are petulantly withholding it because of rules and rigor involved in trusting it. You're a child.

"But all I did was format a table" Then why didn't you just DO IT? You know people in a widespread social situation lack nuance. You know there's no room on the airwaves to say "Formatting wiki tables is okay but more isn't". You know what will happen to the overton window. You KNOW this.

You know, rather than a chain of choked limited posts where people start accusing me of "Tone" that I literally don't have room to fit into bsky posts, I'll sort out this security disclosure thing then do something more longform

I checked out that "altstream" thing and I'm doing a concern. I haven't taken a deep look but it looks to be using WebRTC and serving from either a single SFU, or a single LB hosted out of maybe London in Oracle Cloud? Hopefully this is proof of concept cruft and they have a scaling plan...
