This podcast popped up on my YouTube feed last week, and it's really fascinated me. The host delves deep into the history leading up to the various Christian charlatans and would be tyrants who plague us today. Highly recommend.

With all this talk of the AI apocalypse, and with billionaire technocrats making alliances with the Christian Right, there's never been a better time to brush on on your eschatology. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W42D...

I made a friend at the Boise library’s used bookstore. She wrote down my name and number and is now looking for back issues of the Ladies’ Home Journal for me because she’s ✨INVESTED✨ now. I love library ladies so much.

This is flippin’ hilarious, but it’s also the entire problem with the discourse today. People have been trained to be mindlessly, reflexively skeptical, but I’m not sure Sean even knows what he means when he asks the actual dictionary for “evidence” to back up an uncontested claim about etymology.

Merriam Webster out here fighting for its life

The good news: Trump has announced that the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan will not be livestreamed. The bad news: “Should executions be livestreamed” is now part of the the public discourse for the foreseeable future.

Historical southern gothic novel written by Jasmine Holmes and recommended by Amy Colleen? 👀👀

OK, if you (like me) read Yesteryear and hated it and WANTED it to be so much better, then you need to read Our Sister's Keeper by Jasmine Holmes (like me) and absolutely revel in a book about the darkness behind misogynistic lies and the devastation that greed and oppression bring. You want a plot

As soon as I heard about the public execution thing I thought, “There’s going to be parents who make their children watch this.” Sure enough, the comments section on a piece in the local news had a bunch of people saying they were going to do just that. It’s demonic out there, folks.

Remember that time when France did a reign of terror and everybody started behaving perfectly and definitely didn’t turn into bloodthirsty sociopaths?

Christian Nationalist provocateurs like Joel Webbon have been pushing public executions for a few years, specifically for “false” rape accusations. I can’t help but think that it’s a convenient time for Hegseth & co to demonstrate what happens to people who get on the wrong side of them.

What the hell are we doing⁉️ Nidal Hasan murdered 13 people at Fort Hood. He deserves to face justice. But Pete Hegseth turning a firing squad execution into a livestreamed spectacle is nuts.

I'm in Arkansas for a conference, and my Uber driver gave me a delightful tour of the route between the airport and the hotel, where he pointed out various landmarks pertaining to Walmart, the poultry industry, and fundamentalism. Five stars.

Obviously we all love Dolly Parton as a singer, but I've always thought she has one of the most appealing speaking voices I've ever heard. I could listen to her talk for hours.

I’m on track to hit 10K views on my latest video, which is a significant leap for my little channel (Yay!). I showed my daughters, because YouTube impresses the youth, and their response was to devote the next ten minutes to listing all the people who are still more famous than me 😂

Today I randomly remembered that Jack Kevorkian used to live just a few miles down the road from us and we used to see his death-mobile driving around town. Anyway, just thought you all should know.

OK, I already liked Mamdani but THIS speaks to my heart. Supporting the performing arts and making an "elite" art form accessible to the public regardless of income level? Now you're speaking my language.

Never been to the opera before? Now’s your chance. We’re giving away 70,000 free tickets to the @metopera at the iconic Lincoln Center. Go to on.nyc.gov/opera to enter the lottery. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

She's giving Protestant fundie vibes with the long hair and prairie skirts, but the sexual innuendo in her internal monologue and her social media posts would send any self-respecting fundie into a tailspin of shame. Idaho suggests Mormon, but she doesn't use "Heavenly Father" for God.

I would have made Natalie a regular, not particularly religious person who went through a feminist phase in college, became disenchanted with modern life and went all in on the trad lifestyle, which is a more common plot IRL than you might think.

I think other people have already said this, but the lack of specificity about Natalie's religious affiliation really bugs me and smells like someone just didn't want to do the research.
