Just as the school year begins, GO Train service is being cut. One fully-loaded GO Train can take up to 2,000 cars off the road. Doug Ford is allowing train service cuts while throwing money at new highways & bike lane removals, worsening traffic congestion. Details + how to take action!⬇️

If you're wondering why we include land use stories in our news roundups about walking, biking, and transit... it's because the shape of our cities is one of the biggest factors for how and whether people can get around without having to drive

Okay, I know some of you folks are serious transit professionals. Anyone know how to build transit and want to get us a whole lot more ION built? Feel free to DM if that might be you and if I could help with some perspective (from outside the government)

Do you want to literally help build ION light rail stage 2 and beyond? Waterloo Region is hiring for: Manager, Rapid Transit Engineering careers.regionofwaterloo.ca/RoW/job/Kitc... Manager, Project Integration and Strategy careers.regionofwaterloo.ca/RoW/job/Kitc...

I rode the train out to Stratford this morning and counted 367 people onboard, twice the number who took the first Stratford weekend train 3 weeks ago. Given how many people got off in Kitchener, and that it was only 6 cars, it must have been packed leaving Toronto. We need more trains!

Let's do better with ION stage 2 and get the funding for a program of ongoing transit expansion, managed by an effective in-house project team. We can and should build a lot more transit for the kinds of budgets transit projects are getting these days tritag.ca/ionizewr

A transit partnership that began in controversy is souring, after the private operator of Ion rapid transit filed a $110-million lawsuit against the regional government that owns the system. www.therecord.com/news/waterlo...

Today is the first day of permanent GO train service to Stratford. What we need now is for Metrolinx to purchase the rail corridor and upgrade track to increase speed. Stratford -> Kitchener currently takes 53 minutes, but it can be under 30 minutes with simple track upgrades.
